I took it out top ride it (70 degree weather!) and my battery died. I went to orelileys, they dod not carry it. Went to autozone.. FAIL... two walmarts... double FAIL.. nobody has this darned battery... I will have to go during the week to batteries plus or a motorcycle shop to get one :/ this is the second time batt dies.. its the oem one. I charged it and it cranked but it will be dead again. I guess imma have it tested.
On a sidenote I rode my pocket bike. |

Had a fairly productive day on the bike yesterday:
Finally got my Watsen front lights in and installed. Installed Spiegler front and rear braided lines- transparent blue with gold banjos/bolts. Put on some Pazzo shorty levers- dark blue w/ gold adjusters. Cleaned and lubed the chain. Changed the oil/filter. Rode her for about 100 miles. Will post some pics later... Next is a smoke windscreen and a rearset

Plumbed warm air into my bar mitts.....version 2.3. Standing still, the temp rise in the mitts was 34 degrees (68 indicated). I'm sure it will be much less at 70 mph but the concept is starting to look more viable than the results of version 1.0. I'd be pretty happy with +20 degree rise.
It climbed to 34 degrees today so I took her out for a short blitz. It's going to be a long, lonely winter....Unless I can get this to work real well at parkway speed. |

JB-welded the tail, primed and painted it alongwith the front fender and rear tail side cover. Some more painting and then clear coat.

Installed some grip heaters to work with my heated gloves, and hand guards. Hope to get out tomorrow morning and see how the combo works for me, too bad it is going to be low 40s when I try this. I was really wanting mid 20s. (Not sure about the rest of me, but I am betting I got some warm hands...)

Don't have the funds for a slip-on (or any mod, for that matter!), so I took the stock exhaust and had the heat-shield/end-cap and both pax footpegs powder-coated...The flat black really flows with the lines of the bike!

I rode close to 200 miles to scrub in a new pilot power yesterday. Took my insulated gloves but never used them. Don't like the feel of them when riding the technical stuff, and temps were right at my limit on the highway running up to the mountains and back. Yonah Burger for lunch, then rode 348, 180 & 60, never saw over 40F up there. Only saw one bike all afternoon! Great to get in a run given the cold temps we're having..

If you can ride year round but the roads suck, what's the point?

Friday; washed and waxed.
Saturday; Was the only FZ1 in a biker toy ride. Majority were Hogs, although I did see one Suzuki SV, and a blue FZ6....we were the only sport bikes there, but it was for a good cause. Nice to have about 10 motorcycle police and a couple cruisers as escort, and all traffic blocked as we ran the route. I normally stay away from bike runs, but this was kinda cool, and for kids that need a good Christmas. |

Mounted up some new saddlebags and ordered a Fieldsheer Cyclone riding suit for a 115 mile round trip daily commute I just started. Also picked up a balaclava for under the helmet and a pair of JR riding shoes.
Should be good to go........ Anybody have a recommendation for helmet speakers? Earbuds are great but sometimes I just want to slip the helmet on, plug in and go.

Changed to a FZ6 handlebar with silicone pump in. Took out the thermostat from behind the piston block. Flushed the coolant system with tap water and top it up with Maxima Cool-aide. Clean air filter. Hope the bike will run cooler. changed to Pilot Power 2 CT front and Pilot Power rear. Changed to Motorex 10W60 full synthetic engine oil with Gen 1 OEM yamaha oil filter.
