Ours is too. My golden was an outdoor dog, hated being in the house, too hot. Dusty likes being right by her people all the time. We are really a danger to ourselves because we watch this site:

and I foresee some day we will fall for a pup, but every time I have to vacuum I say, "NO MORE!"

okaugust-your pup looks like she would be Lucas' older sister--I took these this am as I haven't photographed Luke all month-I need a record for his 7th month of existance- he's actually 11 days short of his 8th month- I weighed him 2 weeks ago and he came in at about 66 lbs-if he's running at his usual weight gain I'd give him 68-70 at the moment but I'll officially weigh him in on the 10th of next month. He's a pill- he's taken to really chasing deer when we're hiking-good news is he's still coming back but definitely doesn't think much of disappearing for a couple minutes-guess sticking real close was just a "little puppy" thing- I really think now he's believes he has 1/2 a chance of catching up to them. Well this is the old boy hanging out in the dining room under the plant table-kind of a den sort of place for him.

Ah, there's just something about the look on a Shepherds face when they look at you like that last shot of Lucas.

Yep, couldn't agree more!

Here's one I took with my iPhone yesterday, when Misha was at Tony's. Her first experience with a cat! And yes, the cat owned her ass. She didn't get swatted, but the hissing kept my puppy at a reasonable distance.

Nanook used to play tag with one of our cats and they'd go back and forth for 10 to 15 minutes. Then she decided it was more fun just chasing them around the house.

I have some great video of Desmo as a very young pup getting owned by the
neighborhood cat, who was named of all things. Wilson.

If I could just get the @#$@% iMovie to recognize the format I could post the clip.

LOL, my mother in law had to watch my brother in law's cat for a bit while he was moving from Austin to Dallas. She's got a big dope of a male GSD. During the introduction to the cat he just kind of looked at it while she was hissing like crazy at him. He looked at us and realized that he was probably expected to do something. So what's he do? Sniffed her butt. One swipe across the nose and a nearly 100lb GSD was owned by a cat. He didn't mess with her at all after that.

dogs rule!

Some amazing animals. My wife and I have been using some training techniques from "The Monks of new Skete". They raise amazing german sheppards and we have learned alot reading their books.

Here is MIA black lab mom and a springer spaniel dad.

She is at my office in this pic. (earning her kibble)

Heh. I have both of their books at home. Read them over and over again before I got Desmo. Great stuff.

Mia is such a cute dog-the "spanielador" should be an official new "breed".

Mine could do every trick known to man, and probably could have taught me some. Best dog I ever had, ever since he died 20 years ago never even considered getting another dog.

That's a long time. Why after having had such a good dog have you not considered getting another?

One day. I've found homes for a bunch of strays since then, but Shepherds (like all dogs, but to a greater extent in my experience) are, if not trained to be otherwise, really sensitive animals who like a lot of time spent with them, and get blue when left alone, as any dog I would have would often be. But if I see a stray and there's any possible way to do it, I pick him up till I can find a place for him or her. Seeing a stray dog especially in town tears my heart out.

I agree that Shepherds tend to be a little needier than other breeds. But I think most of the more intelligent breeds are like that.

I think getting another dog (needy or not) would be good for you. I hope your situation changes to allow for that soon.

I think that is good on you though. It is important to realize you can't give a pet the time they deserve. Also very nice to find homes for strays.
