2005 FZ1 - Frame Slider Recommendations

I just purchased a used 2005 FZ1 and I would like to purchase some frame sliders or case savers. I'm a little confused by the various product offerings. Can anyone explain the various products that are available, and their benefits or drawbacks. Also, any advice on where to purchase them? I want to protect my investment. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Brian

Use the search function in this forum works wonders. I've had nearly every question I've ever wondered about my Gen I answered somewhere in here w/a little research. Personally I really like my Fehling engine crash bars. Very sturdy & protected very well in a low side at a track day.

Don't know if these are still available, but worth looking into.

QuietRider's Engine Bars for Gen1

and, here is a shot of some Yamaha accessories (I think they come in from Canada or Europe, not available in the USA as far as I know).

QuietRider's Engine Bars for Gen1.

I contacted "Quiet Rider" and he told me he was busy with other projects. Thanks for the post!

I bought the fehlings for my 05. I need to paint them black though because if you look close enough the silver is not a exact match. I would really like to powder coat them, but I don't know much about that. Quality seems OK and they are easy to install (just need a long extension for your socket wrench). They may also be in the way of certain other accessories.

^I really like the style of that setup. Seems to flow well with the frame. Do you by chance have a link? Looks like that would beef up the frame a bit more too which I'm sure wouldn't hurt.

I'm considering these bars also. I have a silver 2005 FZ1 (silver frame/black engine). What is the choice for style points, black or silver bars?

Thanks,

Brian

Black or silver was the only choices at the time I bought mine. If you have a silver frame, look close at the color of the silver bars, they DO NOT perfectly match the frame paint. I have a few other pictures that show the color difference better. If interested send me a PM
