digital photog discussion den

of all the things that were lost in the HD crash, my old dSLR thread is the one i miss the most, so i'm starting it back up.

well, the 430EX flash unit didn't show up under my mom's Christmas tree for me this year, so i spoke with the wife and she gave me the go ahead to spend $230 or so of my year end bonus on the 430EX II.

after listening to all you guys talking about the 430EX, i was jones'in hard for the external flash, but figured i'd wait it out thru Christmas. my wait is now over.... and my 430EX II is on order.

only bummer is i wish i would have had it FOR Christmas, as it would have come in handy taking all my family get-together pics.

supposed to be 20% faster than the 430EX, quieter recycle time, and i really like this:
Quote:
Plus – when used with compatible EOS cameras – every setting on the Speedlite 430EX II can be controlled via the camera menu system, allowing rapid, intuitive alteration of settings.
not sure if that was an option on the old 430EX.

The EX II, huh !!! ...... just had to show-me-up !
You'll probably brag about the all-metal shoe ...... I like that upgrade.

Now get busy and Use powers to "STICKY" this thread, so us photo buffs can have some fun.

i had to have SOMEthing photography-wise that was nicer than yours.

actually, was only a $40 difference, so made sense in the long run.

Is that a capital D I see in your post dipps? I'm honored.

Yeah it helps to disperse the flash more evenly. I rarely shoot without it.

I liked the effects of the LS a lot, but in the end I personally end up using this one more often.

This site has a ton of reasonably $ photo items, including remote flash triggers that I use

Don't be too hard on Canon shooters. They have good reason to be sensitive.

true.
the Canon equivalents to my Pentax gear would cost 3 times as much, and still not have image stabilalization, or weather sealing....

OK, fair enough. You don't know the hammer, cause I don't participate in many WR threads. I'm a jokester, a prankster, a trouble-maker !

This is dipps thread, and since he's a Canon products owner, he is going to draw like-minded enthusiasts. He can decide whether Riff-Raff such as Noink shooters, and similar, will be included.

BTW DD --- I hope that your appreciation of photography isn't diminished, because you've embraced the money-making side of this art form.
It happened to me...... true story !
