SV650 Handlebar Riser Mod (1" lower)
Thanks to SeanFZ1, I completed the riser change with 2003-2007 SV650 handlebar risers. It ends up making the stock bars about 1" lower and mounts up perfectly. This is about the lowest you can go without having any issues. Plus, the paint matches pretty good with the stock bars. The parts came to about $80 from http://www.motorsportssuperstore.com/
Here are the part numbers: 56211-17G00-13L - top clamp 2 needed 56221-17G00-13L - riser 2 needed 07130-08257 - top allen bolts 4 needed You will need to go to a hardware store to buy 2 bolts and nuts to mount the risers to the top tree. The size is 3/8" X 3 1/2" Here are loads of pics to help everyone out. Last edited by speedstar; 02-17-2008 at 01:33 PM. |

and the last set of pics. Just note that the bike was on the center stand when I measured from the floor to the bar end, plus it's lowered. But you can see from the before and after that the end result was about 1" lower.

Good find! If I may suggest....A paint called "metalcast" has a silver base coat that matches almost perfect. Just shoot it the base color, and then their clear, near perfect match.

Got any pics of your bike from a little further away?
Just how different is the riding position? I have a hurt back from a motorcycle wreck last year. I'd like a more agressive riding position but not so much more so that I can't stand to ride for more than an hour at a time .

Sorry guys, no pics further away and I haven't had a chance to ride it yet. Today, I had the wheels off to have my Road 2's mounted. I'm not sure when I'll have a chance to ride because the weather is supposed to get crappy. It's not going to make that much of a difference in the riding position as it is only 1". Just measure 1" lower from your stock bar to see where they'll end up.

Did this mod to my bike tonight. See pics below. Planning on going for an overnight trip on the weekend so I'll give an update next week on the comfort factor....

I went 1" higher, and can agree that 1" does make a noticable difference.
Looks good. |
