nice collection redseal, I am envious, I"m having a hard enough time keeping my one bike...I'm a firm believer that FZ's both 1st and 2nd gen look so much better without fairings. So everyone, keep those pix coming and ride NAKED...I love it.....back in the 70's when streakin was in, me and the oldlady took the bike out one night sans clothing...what a rush

I need to update some pics with the new exhaust and Buell screen. But this was last year.

<edit> I lowered the lights, got different turn signals and added a Buell screen mounted to the headlight bracket. Gives the bike a lot more profile.

I thought this might fit in well in this thread. It's not so much a sales pitch as just a FYI...

I wanted to make something different for my bike, so we came up with these last year. We went ahead and ran 6 or seven extra sets, and sold them here to well pleased buyers. If anyone wants some, we'll make some more, though it will require 5 pairs to justify tearing down a job and setting a machine up. They're powder coated flat black. $85 shipped. That's about as cheap as we can make them in small batches. These plates are not in any business plan, and making money wasn't really the goal here. Cool parts were. Anyway, if no one needs any, that's more than fine. If you do, get a list started, and we'll turn them out when it hits five pair. For more pics, they're on my bike in the first few pages of this thread.

Also the off-set bulge of the windscreen almost fits the R1 gauge tach perfect. When you are on the bike, it looks perfect.

Thank you, sir. It looks only half as good as it rides, though.

JimmyDean, it's amazing how much more finished the windscreen makes it look. I liked it without but I really like it with... my bike is blue, but you gotta love a naked bee!

Can't wait to see the 'new naked skunk jpgrfan.

Agreed on both counts.

The screen helps with the wind a little too, but it's 90% looks. The previous owner had it on an SV650, I just had to make a bracket to mount it.

OMG!!!!!! I can't believe what I have just witnessed. I have to ask this, and I know someone will crack on me since I am new and all, but why in the world have you guys butchered these bikes like this by putting little headlights on them and making them look so hideous like this? When I look at some of these I dont know if i should or

Great looking bikes. Wasn't really a fan of the naked's until seeing this thread. Been trying to decide whether to get a GenI now or wait another year till I can afford a GenII. Had about decided to go ahead and pull the trigger on a GenI but I absolutely love the GenII naked look. Can go back and forth and it's 2 bikes in one.

Decisions, Decisions...

I think u ought to considering what you're riding in your avatar. I know I did.

Reasons for going naked(feel free to add Naked riders)
1. Weight loss (5kg) / balance
2. Easy crash repair
3. A headlight that points around corners
4. X factor
5. Fun

Yamaha doesn't import them into the US so we convert them to look like what the rest of the world gets.

I don' think anyone will 'crack' on ya for disliking fully naked bikes (FZ1N, SV650N, Ducatti Monster, etc), but probably for your language which shows your disrespect for others.

As others say, it's about personal taste.

My bike was damaged in an unfortunate crash by another member (Ravenrider) and it would have cost twice as much to replace it. Being a fan of naked bikes, I saw it as an opportunity to build my own. I hadn't seen many FZ1's before I bought mine and had seen no naked FZ1's when I started.

My good friend and riding buddy has a Triumph Speed Triple. So that was added motivation for me, too.
