If you're referring to the weather that came through, I was in Dallas and missed it, but I flew through it on the way home unfortunately. Apparently north Louisiana and AR got the worst of it in my part of the country.

I didn't watch, but I did hear about it, it was quite the shocker. Like when Jethro Tull won out over Metallica the first year they had Heavy Metal for a catagory. I never cared for Herbie Hancock because in the 80s he went a little too pop for me and I could never get the taste of our my mouth.

I did hear something very awesome on the radio the other day and spent some time trying to find it without luck. Jazz station in Chicago played "The Beat Goes On" remake by a jazz artist, and I can't remember who or find it!

No, I missed that. While I'm glad he did, I guess it shows how much so called "popular" music sucks these days. I did see The Band got a lifetime achievement award, and some group called The Beatles got mentioned for something.

Come on, Hancock made his bones in the early 60`s with Empryean Isles and Maiden Voyage. If he had never done one other thing, he would still be a jazz great.

River really is a pop album, imo. Though much higher quality than the usual pop contenders, also imo.

I wasn't clear. I'm not familiar with the album. What I meant by that was, since a lot of popular music sucks these days, they had to branch out to a category, jazz, not usually tapped for an album of the year.

I`m looking, were there vocals, etc? I did find an interesting version by JoJo Effect, probably not what you heard.

No vocals, all music. And the artist's name was familiar. Chicago 90.9 (I think) said the song name, which I'd recongnized, and the artist's name, which sounded so familiar I thought I would remember it, after the song. But as usual as soon as I got out of the car to walk into the office there, I meant to write it down and didn't. Got hit by 100 different crisis.

I looked on youtube by song, no luck there, tried to search jazz, song title, that sort of thing, again, no luck.

So I think maybe I just found it on Amazon searching by song. Sonny Criss. Not on youtube. But here is a little something for you. You can hear the clip though, on Amazon and here, which I just found and looks to be a pretty cool place to hang out, but I can't download the player at work.

I have a rhapsody subscription and like it a lot.

Really nice Sonny Criss too, now that I`ve had a chance to listen.

Pavarotti & James Brown singing 'It's a Man's World'

This is my favorite thread on the board! Ironic because I started reading through because or the error in names; Bradford vs. Wynton or vice versa, kept reading and.....then I realized, 'who care's, it's about the music.

Well here's one that was sent to me this morning that I wanted to share with you all. Hope you enjoy this as much as I.

Damn, that gave me chills. The Godfather at the top of his game for sure. What a voice on both sides.

Anna plays at Dazzle tonight. I wish I had a video recorder. Alas!
