Without an aftermarket pipe, you just won't see the benefits..... Bite the bullet Dude! Aftermarket pipe is one of the few things which you can come close to recovering price-wise.

They took the bike away yesterday, but the new one should be here this week. I get the insurance check this afternoon. Now if only the bones were healed enough to ride!

After reading all of the posts in this thread, I decided I would download Deks map and give it a try. Hey, I figured if I would save some gas, and I wouldn't be able to tell the difference in performance, all the better. I had been running the Ivan's map designed for my mods. When running Deks map, the bike really felt lean. It felt inept, underpowered. I live at near sea level, so, maybe that is why. Some others had posted that they could not tell the difference. Well, I could. It just acted like a really leaned out bike. Hesitated, didn't react well to throttle inputs, lots more vibration at any rpm, and just really slow to get wound up. With Ivan's map, I got much better throttle response, perceived power, and general ridability and smoothness. With some saying they couldn't tell the difference, I thought I would post my experiences. Put Ivan's map back in, running great again. Actually kind of went with what "diederik" tried. I exported the map to Excel, reduced everything by 5% and reloaded that map. Seems to run perfect now, and I am saving a little gas over Ivan's standard map. I know a custom map would be ideal, but not quite ready to drop that cash for such a little gain.

Having tried damn near all the maps available, it's very hard to imagine you 'actually' got one of Dek's maps properly downloaded. That is unless you got one of his maps that just doesn't at all match what you've done to your bike. What you've described sounds to me like you were running with basically a zero map or had some other other glitch while downloading causing something to go astray.

Bottom line is that you have a map that works for what you have and that's all that really counts.

True, that is all that counts. I used his map that shows butterflies removed. I assure you it loaded correctly as I was able to retrieve it from my PCIII after having ridden with it for a little while. So, it was definitely loaded into the PCIII. But, as you say, doesen't really matter as the map I am running now is working great for me.

Map Request:

I've been running the map that Ivan included for all my mods but would like to try something different. My bike is fully Ivanized, sans Ivan's Flies--I've simply removed them. And I'm running a Micron GP slip-on can.

Any maps you could send along would be greatly appreciated.

Here's the list:

FCE
Dynojet PCIII
Dynojet Ignition Module
AIS Block-Off Plates
O2 Sensor Eliminated
EXUP Xed
Cat Gutted
Airbox Opened Up
BMC Filter
Secondary Butterflies Removed
Micron GP Slipon Exhaust System

Thanks!

Dek, a question for you:

Your "butterflies map" is, I assume, designed for having the butterflies removed. What other mods?

Thanks...

Hi
The map was made with the following mods installed:-
Scorpion cf- no baffle
FCE
Ignition module ( a/f unaffected)
Velocity stacks ( ditto )
DNA filter
Modified airbox
Zip-tied open flies
I witnessed the a/f setting at every throttle position and rpm and can assure you it was near perfect throughout.
However it may or may not suit your needs. If it does then great. If not no probs just try another.
Cheers
Dek

Dek,

I just have to give both you and your tuner the big TWO THUMBS UP!!! This map is awesome!!!

I zip tied my flies open last week, and tried Deks map on Sunday. I rode around 300 miles total with elevations from around 500ft ASL to around 6000 ASL, mainly in the twisties. I call my riding 'spirited'.... I don't drag my knee everywhere, but I am down in the lower gears more often than not!

I instantly noticed more power than without the flies tied, and the throttle response was almost instantaneous. I did not find it 'raw' at all. Some people have commented that the power feels smoother with Ivans cut-down flies installed - I cannot comment as I have not tried them, but I am more than happy with the way the throttle feels as the bike presently is.

Grin factor - 10 out of 10.

Going up and down in altitude made no noticeable difference in performance, and the bike did not bog or stutter at any time with fast throttle movements.

This is how my bike is staying!

Once again Dek - thanks a bunch for letting me use your map. You're the Ducks Nuts!!!!

(Oh, I have everything Dek has minus the Ign module fitted to my bike for reference)
