+ Dairyland does not write policies in california

+ If you get buy a provisional policy from someone so you can ride while you shop around for a better deal, be sure to ask about the cancellation policy.

A couple yrs ago I got a policy from Progressive over the web and when I went to cancel it 6 wks later they told me there's a 20% cancellation fee. WTF? Sure enough it was buried in the terms & conditions they mailed me 3 wks after buying the policy.

I argued with them til they waived the fee but look out for this.

I'm a new rider, looking for an FZ6, and the quotes I am getting are from $1200-$5000/yr and is pretty close to the same as a R6. Yet I check on the quote on a Warrior and it's only $400/yr. I really don't understand how that's right.

I have an FZ6, which is for sale, by the way

and it costs me about $700 a year for full coverage with Dairyland/Sentry. Might want to give them a call.

I actually just got back from a State Farm office. 995/yr for full coverage til I turn 25 in march, then it's 224/yr. Still looking around town for one to test ride, all I can find are FZ1's.

Nobody has mentioned Pacific Speicialty/Mcgraw group insurance? (http://home.ridewithmcgraw.com/MCHome.html)

They are in CA and will at least write policy in AZ (where I now live). Check them out if you are shopping for insurance. I don't have an FZ yet, but I have not yet found a cheaper rate for my SV.

In Indiana it seems to be State Farm if you have a vehicle insured with them is the most reasonable. I have my R-1 with GMAC ins and it was several hundred less than GEICO or Progressive. I used to be with Progressive, but they were not even close!

Just bought a bike and had to hunt up some insurance.

After reviewing 6 quotes the choice was easy...GEICO.

Full coverage for the 04 FZ1 w/$500 deductible came to $605 annually.

I thought about going with the least amount of coverage but it was only going to be a couple of hundred less per year.

I will wait until the bike is 5-6 years old and then reduce the coverage.

If you are planning on doing track days on your insured bike, check the fine print! About a year and a half ago, State Farm, which handles all my cars and bikes, sent out an addendum to their policy which states that they are not liable for any damage while the bike is being used on a closed course, FOR ANY REASON! Even if it is an instructional school or non-competitive track day, they say they won't pay up. I had my agent double check, and he confirmed, if it's on a race track, they are not liable.

I then checked with Progressive, and they also said no. I was quite specific that these are not competitive events, but it didn't matter.

Does anyone have coverage that will cover (for sure) track damage and injuries?

dmallind, I'm paying around $359 full yr coverage but I have the $200,000 - $100,000 in protection. Also my house and cars are insured by the same company, State Farm. I'm 42 with 26 yrs experience. 06 FZ1.
Hey, I ride from April to Dec, ever done the Frost Your Nuts Ride? I think it is a ride from Lake Pepin to Duluth. later.

State Farm, at least in NY, does not require you to have another policy with them to open a motorcycle policy. The first place I called said one was required, but then I spoke to a friend with her own State Farm branch, and she said it was not required. Some agents just don't want to bother with the one policy.

So just call a few agents and you might get lucky.

After Progressive being (by far) the cheapest insurance company for my last three bikes, including two sport bikes, they had a terrible rate on a new FZ1. Company after company, I couldn't find a policy under $1,000. Finally I called State Farm and got full coverage for $410.

Don't give up!

What is up with these quote?

im a 27 yr male in texas, fort worth area. clean record for over 10 yrs. own both my bikes. 2002 FZ1 and a 2001 ZX9. I'm currently with state farm but was looking for a company that would put both bikes on the same policies so I started the quote game.

Current policies $417 (FZ1) + $506 ZX9 (both 100/300 and agreed value 6k and 9k respectively. full coverage)

allstate $2170
MCG $2194
Geico $2351/yr (the FZ1 cost more here then the ZX9)
progressive 1981/yr
markel 3051/yr

these qoutes were for unmodifed bikes. What is going on here? I'm going to keep shoping around for some better prices but IDK. Atleast progressive didnt low ball me again like they did when i got the 9. I bought the policy at like $400 14 days later I got a notice in the mail with a 300% rate increase to over $1200 needless to say I kicked them to the curb.

If anyone here can explain to me why on earth it would cost me over 3k/yr to insure a bike worth 6k

Just insured an '05 with McGraw (through Allstate).

25/50 liability
15/30 Uninsured
no medical
5000 miles/pleasure use

$175. Im 40, no tickets, no violations, MSF

To up to 50/100 liability and 30/60 Uninsured would be $235, which I am considering.

I just changed to Liberty Mutual...43 years old, clean record...under $400/yr full coverage. Geico was just under $1000/yr

I just insured my 07 FZ1 with Acuity for $293 a year.
Dairyland was somewhere north of $500.
Having my homeowners and multiple cars all with Acuity got me a nice discount. Plus I've been with this agent for 25+ years.
