I'll soon be on my third set of Bose Quiet Comfort headphones. I had the original QC I's and after they were out of warranty I broke them. So Bose sent me a set of QC II's for only $99.00 instead of the list price of $299. That was in 2004. My QC II's finally gave up the ghost on Wednesday so I called Bose to get them repaired. Instead they are sending me the QC 15's for only $99 and they pay for shipping. In this age of EXTREMELY poor customer service, Bose does it right.
I had a similar thing happen several years ago. I had a set of their little dual cube speakers and I broke one when I dropped it. Totally my fault. I called them and told them what had happened and asked if they could repair it. It was still in warranty so they sent me a new one at no charge. I would have paid for it since it was my fault but they wouldn't have it. Not too pretty bad. Smiling I am now. |

I wouldn't buy any of their speaker or audio stuff but they do make pretty nice headphones. I'm also an audio snob so what may crappy to me may sound awesome to you.
By no means am I slamming Bose, just offering up some choices. OK so I'm not a big fan of active noise cancelling because the technology just isn't good enough to give you both great audio quality and good noise cancelling. As is the case with most technologies, there's a trade-off and unfortunately nobody can give you both at an affordable price. So I have two pairs that cover the whole spectrum for me, for work I need to hear what's going on around me so I have a pair of Grado SR-80i's and for critical listening and blocking out ambient sound, I have a pair of Ultrsone HFI-700's If you're looking for some really nice, affordable audiophile level headphones you may want to consider one of the two that I have or both Grado SR-80i $100.00 ![]() Grado's get consistently high marks from reviewers and are perfect for work as you can hear what's going on in the background. The SR-80i's are designed to be used with a headphone amp. but the SR-60i model is designed to work with anything and at $80 is $20 cheaper than the SR-80i. http://www.gradolabs.com/page_headph...3af0dfe546af44 I also have a pair of Ultrasone HFI-700s $150.00 Really really nice headphones! I've had these for about 6 years now and they're built tough, super comfy and sound incredible. A testament to their popularity is that you can still get these on Amazon. They're over the ear cup type phones and block out so much ambient sound that you don't really need to invest in a pair of active noise cancelling phones.
