I need to a rotor and stator for my fz1. I'm not sure what happened to the ones I had, and but I'm guessing that I possibly installed it incorrectly, and here we are a week later and both are ate up. I probably won't be able to afford them for a while but I need prices so I can know how much I need.

BTDT. Ricks can rewind your stator for less than new and it includes a 1 year warranty. He also sells Mosfet regulators that operate better than OEM.
http://www.ricksmotorsportelectrics.com/ Make sure the inboard bearing is a sealed unit and not a shieded one. It make a big difference. |

my Fz1 with 35,000 kilometers have the same problem.... all the magnets from the rotor assy unglued and damaged the stator assy.... cost in Greece 900euros fot those two parts only!!!
We have many damages of this kind in Greece and the kilometers of each FZ1 varies from 15,000kilometers to 80,000kilometers. We assume that the glue that hold the magnets is defective as on Greek forum http://www.fazerclub.eu/forumx/viewt...5733&start=270 we have about 20 FZ1 with broken rotor assy the last year. Do you have any number approximate of how many FZ1 had the same problem in other countries? |

Can I ask how you needed a new stator to begin with? I run a lot of heated gear and accessories... just curious.

Sorry for thread hijack
dimitrisfz, I believe the number with this problem is very few. When I had my problem, parts were not availabe for about 3 weeks. Thiis tells me they don't stock parts that don't sell often. Also, Rick's told me I was the first gen 2 they rewound. He said the R1/FZ1 stator is pretty good. Jethro, For me, I think I had a bad sprag bearing to start things. My bike ran well, but the starter didnt want to catch. The generator was still working. When I replaced the sprag bearing, I decided to replace the rotor bearing. I used a shielded bearing and not a sealed bearing like the OEM. The oil cooling oil is supplied from behind the sealed bearing. A shielded bearing didn't allow oil pressure to build. After rewind, I also replaced the RR, but I find out later it's a Mosfet design and very reliable. I use heated gear all the time. |
