Hunting show's kill shot laughter

Been watching hunting shows and when the hunter hits his quarry he laughs and laughs. I'm not a hunter. I have gone out as a 10-12 year old with my dad and brother and killed some redwing blackbirds. I don't recall laughing.
I understand the adrenaline flows but a little dignity would class up these shows. If you hunt consider the Native American custom of thanking the animal and his still present spirit.

I am with you brother, Unless you are living in the wilderness and have not eaten in two weeks, you are a sociopath if you enjoy killing without harvesting the animal.

Not much dignity or class with this group.

I hunted growing up and got away from it exactly for this reason.

Right now a show "Ultimate Hunt" just finished. Nice looking lady and a guy that looks like Larry Bird. Using the hunting show to raise money for Cancer research, or raise ratings with a good spin. Crying about how both lost family to Cancer. Do they not see the hypocrisy of killing animals(somebodys mother, father etc) and natural selection in humans. I'm not saying harvesting animals is wrong but the tie in is.
Sorry this maybe war room material and again I'm just saying. So why do I keep watching these shows? I would comment on any other show I'm watching/like. Like those Paul Sr. commercial. Don't get me started.

Reguardless your position on hunting, if people stop watching these shows, will they stop making them?

It's tv. Writing about it is nearly as silly as watching it.

We had a rifle. I was eleven. My dad took us. One time we brought my friend's brother and he asked if he could bring his mom's tiny .25 pistol. My dad said "Sure". So my brother shoots a bird and goes to retrieve it and it's laying on it's back and starts flapping it's wings. Scares my brother who reaches into his friends waistband, pulls the pistol and starts blasting the bird. No safety, no jack back the slide. Could have blown his friend's little pecker off. That time I laughed, at my brother.

Young people that indiscriminately kill animals sometimes turn out to be serial killers.

As to the show. So why were you watching it?

Interestingly enough, a serious study of serial killers revealed that over 95 percent of them were raised using Gerber baby food products.

With those two known facts, it seems like we could predict what kid will go on to be a murderer.

I eat what I hunt. I am not a trophy hunter. I don't hunt based on what it would look like mounted on my wall. In fact, I have no animals mounted on my wall. Now I don't laugh, but I do get somewhat of an rush when I make a successful and clean kill. I haven't seen the show in question, but I have seen shows where the hunter will laugh, but more because they are happy they made kill, not out of disrespect.

Same here. What "sport" is there in shooting a deer at 150-200 (or more) yards? None at all. Marksmanship, sure. But actual hunting? Nope. Unfortunately, a lot of hunters fall right into the typical stereotype that the general public has of them; drunks who like to run around the woods shooting at anything that moves.

When I did hunt, I was a bow hunter, which requires a lot more true hunting ability than simply blasting away from a great distance.

One thing I always got a kick out of was the term "sportsman." What "sport" is it to kill a defenseless animal?

Don't forget dogs with electronic tracking collars, scent blocking clothes, bottled phermones, trail cameras and feeders, fenced in hunting areas and plenty of other tricks.

Bambi doesn't stand a chance.

Wow, really??

Bambi doesn't need a chance. Deer populations are at all time highs, pretty much all over the country. They are killing the old hardwood forests around the Great Lakes and eastward, because of overpopulation and lack of food, by eating down to the ground every little sapling that tries to come up. In some areas, they are starving to death, and invading residential and suburban areas in search of food.

Stereotype much? The only hunters I know - and I know quite a few - are out there taking deer and hogs (and don't get me started about the hogs), processing them, and putting meat in the freezer. Or did some of you not realize that meat comes from animals? I don't know of any hunters that kill a deer, high-five their buddies, and leave the carcass in the sun to bloat and rot.

Bowhunting is a fine pursuit. But the rifle achieves by far a more humane kill on an animal than any bow, which, if it DOES make a kill shot, is from a lung shot or bleeding the animal out.

Drunks shooting at anything that moves? Really?

Wow, people.

WA.
