SSDs for Sale
Need to clear some stuff out, so have some SSD's for sale...probably the best bang for your buck upgrade you can do for your PC.
These were used for some benchmarking and a few weeks of normal use to evaluate performance. All are secure erased an in factory fresh condition (in terms of NAND performance) and come with all packaging etc. with warranty intact (except the Octane drive). These are SATA III drives which will work fine on a SATA II but you'll be bottlenecked and not realizing the drive's full potential. 256GB OCZ Vertex 4 - $150 shipped (retail price $219) >>This has been opened (for pics) thus voiding the warranty. As such, it’s priced accordingly. NEWLY LISTED -------------- 512GB OCZ Octane - $305 shipped (retail price $600) >>This has been opened (for pics) thus voiding the warranty. As such, it’s priced accordingly. PRICE REDUCED ---------------------------------------------------------------- 250GB Intel 510 Series (has latest firmware PWG2) with bundle - SOLD (retail price $475 if you can find it) 480GB Vertex 3 (has latest firmware 2.22) - $450 shipped (retail price $650) SOLD

I went to SSDs in my laptop a few months ago. It's a whole new computer.
Does seem to run a bit hotter, though.

It ain't. The primary SSD gets pretty hot. It's right under the left palm area on my MBP. Sometimes it's fine, sometimes it gets über hot. Warm right now, but the fan's not running. Seems to get quite hot when I'm watching video and the vid card's tasked, too. Cools off very quickly when I close 'er up, though.

If it's not the SSD, then perhaps it's one of the settings I changed to accommodate it. Hrm.... Okay, installed iStatPro. It's not the SSD that's hot, it's the GPU and CPU that're toasty. Before I further hijack Faa Q's thread, I'll start my own thread. Edit: Not worth its own thread. Installed smcFanControl and bumped up the fan speeds. I'd guess it's a combination of one of the settings I changed (which causes the battery to use power to keep stuff in the RAM rather than saving it to the SSD when the computer sleeps) and the age/cycles of my battery.

I'm interested in the 480 gig Vertex 3.
Would you consider a trade? I have an unused brembo front brake master with collapsible lever, $361 retail. Brembo billet brake light switch, $59 retail And reservoir kit, $52 retail. Which totals out to $472.00

Sure you do. They're really only one item, they all work together.
You bolt them on your bike and you get improved braking performance. ![]() Perfect performance mod for a Z1000!!!!
