You know, it's funny, but I never really thought of "Jaws" as a horror flick.
The number two scariest flick of all time?

Then I thought about it. I grew up near the beach, and would go to the beach often as a kid. Right after seeing that movie (on television a few years after it had initially been released), I would often get scared shitless thinking about sharks when I was "Boogie Boarding" with my little buddies. The only kids that weren't affected by "Jaws" when swimming were the ones who didn't see it. Jeez, sometimes I got the creeps when swimming alone in a POOL! Was it "scary?" I guess it was!

If you were from Kansas City, though, I don't think that movie would have any kind of lasting effect on you...

What about "The Fly?"
The original one. I got really creeped out by the end sequence where the huge spider killed the poor half-guy-half-fly. YUCK!

Yeah, anything with creepy children usually does it.
Only movie to ever actually give me nightmares? Nightmare on Elm Street. "One, two, Freddy's comin' for you..."

The comments are spot on.
The first film was great - the 2nd film (which I couldn't wait for the release) was absolutely stupid and not as well made. It was a real let down. There are also a few endings to the original.

Redline.

It's not a scary movie. But you'll be horrified that it actually exists.

I haven't seen the remake, but I thought the 2008 original (Let the Right One in) was a great flick.

Original is one of the best vampire movies ever made. I didn't like the remake as well. Both are on Netflix instant play.

Audition was pretty creepy.

I think there is a sequel to The Human Centipede.

I liked that movie, and I still refer to it sometimes when I'm teaching. The sidewalk scene was cool and creepy.

Jacob's Ladder creeped me out, made me very uncomfortable and uncertain, and I found it to be meaningful. It's my favorite horror movie (although not all would consider it one).

The Twilight Zone movie had two memorable horror segments: the monster shredding the airplane, and the boy with ultimate power (good in the TV series, too). Creepshow had some good segments, too, I think.

Videodrome is a movie that you should not see. Porn and horror should not cross paths. Blech. But it was disturbing (so was the Japanese film Ironman).

The small town I live in did not have this at any of the video stores but you can pick it up on Ebay for about $5. The preview looks good.

The girl in the remake was in "Kick ass." She was fantastic in that movie.
I know most people hate remakes, but "Let me in" stands on its own merit, IMO.
I will check out the original. Even though I loathe subtitles...

Seeing the remake first might help. The problem was that it simply imported the same dialogue and transferred the location from the austerity of Scandinavia to the austerity of the American Southwest. It didn't do anything different or try to get a unique feel. It wasn't remade so much as Americanized.

That's all the movie snobbery I can summon.

Halloween - the original has to be right up there. Scared the poo outa me.

Christine was disturbing - indestructible car coming for you locked in a big warehouse ...

Another one - can't remember the name - four teenage types - car accident in the deep southern backwoods - chased and slowly dismembered by a clan of slope headed neanderthals
