I really hope this thing happens.
It would be so much fun to go see a Moto GP event without having to drive across the country.
I Googled MotoGP Austin Texas and found a pic of what the track is going to look like.

I would rather them spend my tax dollars on this track, then on f-n illegals.

So, spending taxpayers money on building a race circuit would mean no/less money spent on "f-n" illegals........
It appears you taxpayers are going to take it up the a%se from both directions.
Hey, i'm all for a new circuit provided its funded by private enterprise, not the taxpayer.
Our stupid state govenment has funded the indycar series here on the Gold Coast since the inception some 20 years ago with the taxpayer coughing up a
cool $10m + per year. I'll cost more from this year on as the indycars are now non starters.
Those parasites [state boffins] try to blind us with bullshit regarding the benefits of staging the series, but the bottom line tells the real story.
You Texans better prepare yourselves for increased taxes, directly or indirectly.

I guess local investment in infrastructure to support & encourage tourism should be outlawed. You have a vote, use it!

While I am certainly opinionated and do wish the War Room was still open - It isn't, and if you can't participate in a thread about motorcycling without hijacking it into a political argument - Just don't participate.

Now back to our regularly scheduled discussion of the MotoGp in Texas....

What, people have opinions in countries other than the US? Who would have known?

Persoanlly, I'm glad the race is back on. Having another major track is not a bad thing.

No, all I'm saying is at least I'll get some benefit from my tax dollars with a race track.

Overall the track will be a good thing. We really don't have a good 'road track' in the general area.

I think that's "chunder" not plunder. Chunder is/was Australian slang for vomit and allegedly came from sea-sick passengers on the emigrant ships who would shout "watch-under" to warn people below when they barfed over the side. Over time it got shortened to chunder. Lease that's what I heard.

Now back to F1 in Austin.....is there a date for the first F1 race in 2012 yet?

Not sure what you are talking about. I have been going to Laguna for at least 10 years. No one in our party has had a moving violation in all that time, even though we all have deserved at least one.

What bothers me about Laguna is the way they have routed all the motorcycle traffic in and out via reservation road. Instead of a 12 - 15 minute ride from the hotel its 45 minutes in and an hour or more leaving.

Don't remember exactly when they started doing this but it seems like shortly after Moto GP was brought back to the US. The crowds were smaller when it was just WSB.

Have you actually had problems with the CHP or local PD?

Yes, Nov 16-18 - it's on the official F1 calendar @ http://www.formula1.com/races/calendar.html

.. and hotels are $300/night and up since the calendar was published. Anyone in Austin want to host a fellow FZ1-er?
