View from Tonight's seats. There are so many peeps here tonight all the seats normally available are gone. Still, I like this view from time to time. Roof is closed tonight.
We were just in a pub with Static and JEP and a huge LET'S GO GIANTS chant erupted. Good times!!!! SCADS of Giants fans here. Incredible.

Texas has two starters on the DL, and one starter on the CPL (can't pitch list), so tonight they start 23-year-old Justin Grimm, who hasn't pitched above Double A.
He's 8-3 for the Roughriders (their park is literally around the corner from my house), with 67 K's, 14 BB's, and a 1.87 ERA this year. So how does he do in his Big Show debut? Grimm pitches six solid innings, giving up 6 hits, 3 runs, notches 7 K's and no walks. The Rangers back him up by getting 5 runs in the bottom of the 6th to get him his first big league win. Rangers win 8-3. Okay, it was only the Stro's, but still, major league ball is major league ball. WA. |

It's in the 60s. I actually moved out of those seats for a bit cause they are in the sun. I'm currently hiding in the shade 15 rows up.

Oh, very cool.
Out here, I finally gave up and started a fire. Me and my micro-climate, I guess. Enjoy the game! |

Roger Clemens not guilty on all charges. Regardless of verdict, what a colossal waste of time and money. Still guilty in the public court of opinion and slim to none chance on making The Hall.

I think there is too much suspicion in the public court of opinion, and perhaps rightfully so. They just need to make a 1990 - 2010 wing of the Hall of Fame and put all these guys in there with a giant asterisk above the door. Hitters were on it, pitchers were on it, the field was level. Just dump them all in there, mark the door accordingly.

"And now ladies and gentlemen we are entering the 1990-2010 wing of the Hall of Fame here in Cooperstown. You will notice a large asterisk above the doorway leading into the wing; more on that later. Please note that this wing includes all athletes from this generation of baseball, as there was no proof positive of knowing which players were using HGH, steroids, or other performance enhancing drugs.
"However, one thing is certain. There were many great ballplayers that played during this era; statistically some of the best ever. It was after great consultation with Major League Baseball that we agreed to create this separate wing of the Hall of Fame, based on the performance enhancing suspicions that ran rampant during this time frame. Welcome again to the 1990-2010 wing, and please, leave a urine sample at the door on your way out."

But the public doesn't get to vote. It's those special writers who get to do it. I have no idea what the pulse is among them though.

Tim Kurkjian said last night on ESPN that he would be voting for Clemens to get in.
Just lost a ton of respect for Kurkjian....

Add that to these two pearls of mine:
1. Give every honorably discharged veteran an interest only loan on foreclosed houses for their first five years of occupancy, followed by a mandatory 25 year fixed VA loan. 2. Remove all party affiliations from voting ballots and replace them with a "Candidate Stance" on important issues. Thus, making people vote on candidate merits as opposed to party lines. And then I think we've taken steps in improving America's pastime, aided those that defend the ability to play it (amongst many many other far more noble freedoms), and then taken a step in fixing the voting process. OK, no more in the Baseball thread...
