Looks like the 2014 Sachs shocks for the S1000RR, are much longer, than the 2012-2013 units. You will need much different dog bones, to make that shock work for you.

The picture in that post said 2014 but maybe it wasn't a 2014. The guy I bought it from said he had FZR400 dogbones but I passed on those because I thought the stock ones would work

Right on! It's worth double checking.

I had the same thing happen to me on Ebay. I found an R6 shock for a great price and even private messaged the seller to make sure. The guy swore up and down that it was the correct Yamaha R6 shock and IT WAS NOT!

I tried to put on the shock and it won't even fit,

Dean, I should have bought yours, I tried to save a little but didn't realize a 2014 wouldn't fit. Previous post on last page showing 2 shocks must not be from a 2014

Yeah, i did not want to say anything to you, about that shock, other than it looks longer.

I'am guessing in 2014+, B.M.W. went with a much longer shock from Sachs.

The adjustment part on the top of the shock, looks different, also. Looks that way to me, from the photo of the FZ1 o.e.m. unit, and that B.M.W. shock.

Okay, that being said, i still have two 2012 B.M.W. shocks in stock, and i know those fit, because i ran one of them temporarily, to make sure they did fit.

I am sorry that shock you have, does not fit.

I googled the numbers on the shock and I believe I have a 2015 (not 2014) shock, either way it doesn't work and I'll try to sell it on ebay. Dean, I may take you up on that, I'll send you a PM once I sell. I put the stock one back on for now

Okay, just let me know.

Looking at that Sachs shock in the photo, the spring preload ramp, is much lower on the shock body, then on the 2012 Sachs shocks i have. Should think that means the shock body on the shock you have, is about an inch+ longer, than on a 2012 shock. That would explain, why the shock will not fit, FZ1's.

Dean, a buddy needs a shock for his FZ1. Do you still have one of the BMW S1000 2012-13 available? Are new dogbones necessary? (he wants to retain stock ride height) Thanks for any help!
