SuperMicro Red China Spies

In the country I grew up in, this would have been considered an act of war. WTF?

I am suspect of the reporting in this article.

Should I get into the reasons why?

In the old days, a design/board/cad review would have caught this. However, with offshoring, the level of attention board designs get is minimal and usually rushed. It would not surprise me at all for something like this to get through.

To be fair there have been multiple hard denials that this ever happened by officials of publicly-traded companies named in the article.

Yes, but they have a vested interest in denying it.

It's a pretty interesting topic and will be following closely. Bought a ton of motherboards and equipment from SuperMicro back in the day when I was running server farms.

So much inaccuracy in that "report", not sure I'd put much faith in it until some of the reported "facts" are confirmed by other reputable sources.

Of course and honestly, I hope it is not true. Obviously, it is not good for SM. But, it really isn't good for anyone else either.

I for one don't believe that China is infiltrating our na 我们的国家互联网系统和秘密芯片。

BTW - there was a cheesy SCI FI movie about this called Dragon Day back in 2013. You can see it on Prime.

When out-of-work engineer Duke Evans and his family try to rebuild their lives in a remote mountain town, their own version of the American Dream is cut short on the day a devastating cyberattack destroys the U.S. as we know it. Every microchip 'Made in China' has been infected with a virus that rapidly shuts down all modern technology. The aftermath happens fast, and as the rule of law, water, and food run out, Duke and his family must use all their wits to survive this frighteningly realistic scenario.

Since big time money is at stake, I find it interesting the story has been mostly buried and no liable threats or action have been directed at Bloomberg.
