Not sure about that, haven`t seen it.

Ray Brown here. The Big Bass is limiting compared to electric, but the sound...

Check out Terri Lyne Carrington on drums.

I have to tell you, Anna came home yesterday stoked. First, the girl who is giving her a ride showed up in a bright yellow VW bug, the car she covets. She called me at lunch and was eating Chipolte off the DU campus with her new friend. She made three new friends, said the guys were "hot" and that she learned a lot. She didn't care for one instructor, a bassist, because he didn't seem to know much about the horns, but about that time another instructor who played sax came around and gathered them up to show them stuff.
Oh, and ALL of the kids there were getting pressure to get back into regular band.
Thanks for the prodding!

I`m so glad to hear it. Lucky girl, has a good momma.

Hopefully she will learn to appreciate the bassist.

I ruined a nice old jazz doing that. You know the way it`s done is to pull the frets, then fill the slots and then, for that Jaco sound, finish it with a hard acrylic.

You would be better off to just buy a fretless neck for it, or maybe a fretless bass. Moses Graphite probably makes a neck for that Spector.

They go over this stuff all the time over at talkbass.

Our very own barryd is a luthier and would be a great resource for stringed instrument mods. I would PM him with that question.

Ah...Chet Baker and the sweet melodies of coooooool Jazz...west coast style. Soooooooo....sweet. Miles and Bitches Brew, listen to that all night long......... and let's not forget the brilliance of the bop mastery of Bird. Parker & Gillespie.. brilliant tonality between the notes.... add my favorite scotch over ice, perfection. All that beauty of half and quarter tones. Coltrane....ahhhhhhh...what an artist. It was never meant for everyone to "get it". But I dig it man.

Learning is its own reward, dude. Keeps your brain working, and music is worth the effort anyways.

Gary Willis plays a little bit of fretless.
