CNN - Apollo 11

I thought that it was a very good documentary, even with a bit of CGI. The newly released video was amazingly clear.

I remember the day that they landed on the moon very well. My cousin and I were both 16 and we borrowed his dad's boat to go water skiing. At one point I turned the boat abruptly and the engine fell into the water. Luckily the safety chain held and we were able to get it back into the boat and we were close enough to shore that we could paddle back in. Amazingly, Uncle Frank wasn't that pissed about it. He took the spark plugs out, turned it over a few times, squirted some oil in the cylinders, put the plugs back in and fired that baby back up.

Oh yeah, the moon landing was pretty cool.

I can't be sure but I read an article that they used it in places. There were some scenes in space that were unusually clear and I thought that they were probably CGI.

Hmm. CGI was never mentioned on the podcast with the guy who made it.

They did spend an insane amount of time remastering all of the footage. The 70mm stuff was mind boggling. Still kicking myself for missing it in the be theater. Also pissed it was only one night.

If it had any sort of CGI then the constant claims of "solely archival footage" must have been fake news. Which wouldn't surprise me. But, I attributed the clarity to the "previously unreleased to the public 70mm archival footage".

Flat earthers from all around the Globe come together ever year for a convention.

Sadly it seems so many of today's Public school kids are skeptical of much History.
It's either they are taught that, or they learned not to believe too much of what the teachers tell them is true.

The Apollo 11 mission was a lot of waiting and a little action from the perspective of a seven year old. I need to see this again, on something better than a 13" B+W tv at the edge of a Baltimore major network signal.

Kids these days!!!! Lol

The FE peeps can't even agree on a model. They fight each other all the time, it's hilarious. Their age range is all over the place. Most I see are 40 plus who have become "woke" after all these years. (I follow a lot of them It's my guilty pleasure)

Anyway, the movie is amazeballs.

IT WAS GREAT! Yes, the re mastered and "lost footage" was great. Keep your eye out - I bet it will come back sometime in IMAX, etc.

Thanks for the recommendation. Watched it this afternoon and really enjoyed it. So much footage I'd never seen before.

Those shots of the civilians watching the launch took me back to the styles of my youth. Kids with vertical striped pants and horizontal striped shirts. Like watching Wonder Years again

It's cool that we went to the moon and all. But space exploration kinda seems to me like when I go on long motorcycle rides out in the direction of some remote section of a desert where there no twisty roads. I think to myself, "well, I'm here; now what"?

Some of us just wore jeans and t-shirts even then.

Bell-bottoms, of course.

Don't forget the bicycles - 20 inch rims, banana seats, high rise handle bars, and for good measure a baseball card hung against the rear wheel spokes with a clothespin.

Seek out and explore the next world!
