Great read here fermic. Good on you for getting her into the sport, and glad you're both having a blast with it all. Cool bike too.

playing with bmidds old gopro. She has started to get more comfortable standing, riding WOT, baby wheelies, and mild hill climbs... which means she wants more power. So a big more kits on its way from the UK, its an athena kit made for the yamahas so its only $140 shipped.

couple more clips from yesterday, operation big bore kit was a success. She looped it and broke the whole rear fender and license plate assembly trying wheelies in 2nd, BUT she is riding pretty much any trail we take her on, and this thing has zero issues doing 3rd gear hill climbs now.

Braap! Look out for that tree

Looks like she is coming along nicely. You guys are riding some rocky trails, not easy stuff for a new rider.

She keeps saying she wants more challenging trails so we keep going!

Its funny where she rode around the first two times out and was afraid to go over the bumps she doesnt even slow down for them anymore. Progressing nicely she is. I think ill be focusing on the suspension next since that will be the next weak point as she gets better.

Ended up pulling the forks and stem. Repacked everything and added 100ml of fluid to the forks. Really improved the front feel. She is freaking getting it now. Up to 250 dirt miles already.

Getting quicker! a few falls this time out as she was pushing herself a little more and the acerbis bark busters are taking a beating. Might have to upgrade them shortly

Welp, #2 rear fender, license plate, tail light, and turn signals down. And some new bark busters. She has been hitting it a little hard lately. But she keeps going!

First time riding in the fall. Learning how slippery those damp leaves are.

I have created a monster. I haven't been able to go out with just the guys and have a really hard day all summer lol. She gets mad when I even suggest it.

Funny. The best way to fall is when you're still standing up. BTW I bruised my thigh by having my phone in the pocket of my Klim Dakar pants and I'm still feeling it almost a month later. Pulled the bike out of the ditch ok though. As said before, it's much nicer to pickup a light bike as opposed to a heavy DS or god forbid an ADV, hence why my 1090 is with a new happy owner. My skills aren't there yet.

lol I think I saw that pic on one of the facebook pages.

And yeah I don't carry anything on me. Everything goes in our back packs. outside of the chest protectors for that reason.

Try the Cycra handguards. Mine have obviously been tested, and they've held up really well. HDB may be a bit more robust still, and I'd recommend those if a KTM or Husky to raise the display up to where you can read it.

They are nice, I had them on my YZ, but with how they mount you cant have certain bars or bar pads. The issue with the ones that were on hers, they had a pivot point where they attached to it allowed them to bent, these are solid so it should work better.

Plus she didn't want to spend $120 lol

The first thing I thought of when you posted was, "man he just screwed up his legitimate excuse for getting away from the girlfriend and having fun with the guys."

I don't really see dirt biking as a "having fun with the guys" activity. At least not day trips. You are basically doing your own thing, with the occasional break and chatting. Now if it was a weekend trip, staying in a cabin somewhere, I totally agree. Typically not an issue though, at least my wife. She does not enjoy tagging along to "guy weekend" type things.
I do suppose until the SO gets better, it might change the riding style a little though...which could get mildly annoying after a while.
