It is fun, almost all the junior teams do a teddy bear toss these days and I've been to two so far, but nothing anything like that.

It really sucks when the home team gets shut out, which also happens every once in a while.

our local amateur team has the best goal song/video ever!

http://www.ridertownusa.com/ridervision/v/goal/

if you're not aware, this is a very good league... most of the players go to big college programs, and our team has produced some NHL talent... In the last 5 or 6 years our team has sent Teddy Purcell (Kings, Lightning), Justin Abdelkader (Red Wings), Alec Martinez (Kings), Derek Peltier (Avalanche), Dave Moss (Flames), Tommy Wingels (Sharks) and Casey Wellman (Wild), Richard Bachman (stars)

Well, it's better than Chicago's that's for sure!

The Avs tried to use some lame song a couple of years ago, but they just couldn't get people into it, and went back to the Hey Song. It works, it's tradition, and every time they play it I hope .25 goes into a fund for Vietnamese kids molested by Gary Glitter, but hey, I like it!

Its one of my favorite times of the year as I shut my work down for the holidays and get to kick back and watch the world juniors. I've got to get to one of tournaments one of these years, maybe next time its in Europe.

Good thing that the Americans have stepped up thier game or this tournament would lose some lustre. For Canadians, this tournament is second only to the olympics for importance and we need some quality opponents to make it worthwhile.

Kinda feel sorry for some of the countries, don't they learn how to hit? Hell, I play in a no contact league but know to keep my head up when coming up the ice.

Hmmmm... looks like the Canadian Jrs forgot that the clock goes to 60:00. Gotta give it to the Ruskies for coming back in the third period over and over during this tournament, Fins, Swedes, and now the Canucks.

I didn't get to watch it, I spent the last two hours trying to help my daughter order and rent her college text books online.

But speaking of books, I got this for Mike for Christmas, along with the movie, The Making of Slap Shot: Behind the Scenes of the Greatest Hockey Movie. Normally I wouldn't buy a book about making a movie, but it had great reviews on Amazon, and Mike is really enjoying it. There are a lot of stories about the players, coaches, etc. who inspired the movie, and a lot of stories about people who are still around today, like Bob Costas and the Caps coach. A good read according to Mike!

Just got tagged with box seats and a parking pass to tonight's Kings/Predators game. Schweet! Now I just have to convince the wifey...

Oh, and get this... The uncle who hooked me up with that cool Marcel Dionne signed poster? Just had Marcel mail me a signed stick, made out to me! How cool is that? It's on the fireplace mantle until the wifey makes me take it down.

I'm told I can meet him and play golf with him if I can make it to the cottage in June, but I don't see being able to get out there so soon. Ah well. I'm a horribly crappy golfer anyway.

You should get him a copy of "The Game," by Ken Dryden. Best hockey book I've ever read.

I've read "The Game", and it is a great book! Ken Dryden is a very smart, articulate guy, with a dry sense of humor. Not a bad goalie, either.

I'll have to check the bookshelf and make sure he doesn't have it, but thanks for the suggestion! Todd, you are charmed!

I'm with you on the stick! I had my signed Staz stick in the living room for weeks before I finally moved it. I'm mean though, I told Mike there is no way his fantasy football trophy (he won his superbowl) is going anywhere but the basement!

Hey Todd i can stand in for you if you can't make it! I am pretty good but I'm sure Marcel Dionne is better.

I usually get a bunch of hockey books for Xmas every year. I just stared this one about the Canadiens vs Red Army game on New Years Eve 1975 and really enjoying it.

Hmmm... you gotta love it when the home team has only lost once in the previous 20 games...... and that was the game you went to.

The Game on the way for V Day, and the Greatest Game in my shopping cart for later purchase. Thanks guys!

Going to the Avs Isles game at 1:00 today. Hope it is better than the last few. They win 8 in a row and then lose about as many, then win, then lose,

What happened to Canada in the Junior finals? They really folded in the third period!

Oh yeah that has been the top news story all week. Many are in mourning.
Me - It is just a game and the kids played well until those darned Ruskis caught fire.
