By three decades yah!

Oklahoma wasn't known for it's ice rinks or frozen ponds. I was 11 before they dragged me away from my books to go skiing even.

I was skating since I was old enough to walk. One of my earliest memories is skating on my grandfather's homemade rink in his backyard. When I was a little older we would spend all day on the frozen lake playing and endless game of hockey. No adults, no rules just a vast expanse of ice and a bunch of boys. It was heaven. When we finally noticed girls as something more than an annoyance that was the beginning of the end.
btw Women's hockey is the fastest growing part of the sport now. This is a great thing.

Its funny, Ive ice skated and inline skated at rinks, like holiday rinks...open to the public stuff...and its amazing how much worse I am without a hockey stick in my hands...

Put a stick in my hand and Im pretty solid...take it away and suddenly Im a Weeble Wobble...the whole world seems wrong...

Dont think of it as wacking, or slashing, or cross-checking....think of it more like using your stick's inherent means of leverage to stabilize your skating by using their bodies to maintain balance....

Habs vs the Maple Leafs this evening should be a good game, not that these teams hate each other or anything...

We caught the flames at the kings a couple nights ago. Kings won, but 2 of 3 periods were pretty sloppy...

And yes, my Canadian wife still roots for Canadian teams over her hometown team...unless it's the leafs!

Penguins roll to 12 wins in a row and Crosby's point streak goes to 18 games. Last night's game vs Buffalo was hard fought and got a little nasty. I was bummed that Deryk Engelland didn't get any ice time cause he definitely would have been in a few fights.

I don't think Leaf fans are even rooting for them anymore... its getting ugly and Burke is taking alot of heat for the Kessel trade.

Maybe you just need to buy her a classic purple and gold jersey to wear to the games!

I went to the Big Chill yesterday...Michigan v. State at Michigan Stadium, outside. It was really fun, tailgated like a football game. But, it just didnt have that same cozy feel of a hockey game. One of those things I'm glad I went to, but probably would only do it once. It was pretty crazy at times though!

That looked so cool, literally and figuratively! Having those Jan 1st NHL games outside has really generated some interest I think.

We listened to most of the Avs-Caps game on the car radio while shopping and ditching my office party in favor of a steak in Laramie.

The Avs have a great rookie defenseman, Shattenkirk. You can expect great things from a man whose name is a combination of William Shatner and Captain Kirk. I'm just sayin'.

Those familiar with Glendale council say it is unlikely the lease will be rejected, which means any chance the Coyotes had of being moved is gone. Instead, the suburban Phoenix city of 250,000 will run its total sports debt (plus interest) to a breath-taking $1-billion (U.S.) by agreeing to pay Hulsizer, a Chicago businessman, a total of $197-million to buy the Coyotes from the NHL and keep them at Jobing.com Arena in Glendale for the next 30 years.
I see the Arizona commies are on a shopping spree. No private investor would go near the Coyotes in Phoenix but there are lots who are willing to invest in moving them to a good hockey market. Governments rush in where angels fear to tread.
The NHL is still trying to sell the game to markets that just don't care about hockey and find eager customers only among those spending other people's money. Give it up NHL, concentrate on the great hockey towns like Boston, Philly, Detroit etc. and set up new franchises in traditional hockey markets. Forget Vegas.

So how did the game go? I went to game there a few years back and really enjoyed the atmosphere. Some things I just laughed at, like the inner concourse where people just walk and mill around while the game is going on as well as the vendors that could care less about whats happening in the game as they go up and down the aisles. Overall though, it was a good time, and I would rank it behind Montreal as best cities to watch a game at out of the few arenas I've been to.

We didn't! We sold the tickets, because with Mike being out of work we kind of have to sell what we can when we can. We do have tickets to Friday's game.

Hoping they are on a roll, and Duchene and Stas are on FIRE. They've made good trades, beat Hotlanta and the Caps (not sure if that's saying much right now) and now Chicago without having to go to overtime. When they were down 5-4 I got up and walked away, before I threw the controller.

So many top line guys out injured and these rookies and no names come in and show what they've got, playing like it is their first and last chance to make it - for some of them it is.

And they traded Hannan. I was really excited about that. When we met him at the meet the players event, I thought he was an ass. Like he was too good to waste his time doing that. He was always solid, but just didn't seem to be fired up ever. I'm wondering what the Caps think about losing five since they got him. If the players are as superstitious as most, they probably don't talk to him in the locker room. Avert their eyes from something unholy in their midst...
