FZ6:
Hi guys. I have had my new '09 only about two weeks, (255 miles so far),
and I love it! I've owned five other bikes, and borrowed several others for many, many miles, but this is the best "catch-all" bike that I have ever ridden! I'm a big guy and I've had several back surgeries so, taking my time, I looked for a new bike for over two years before checking out the FZ6. As soon as I rode it I knew this was the bike. For me, it is the perfect blend of power, comfort, handling, economy, (who really cares?), and initial purchase price. Insurance is very reasonable too. I love it and from what I read and have been told, it's darn near bullet-proof. Safe riding! |

G'day everyone.
I just put a nice set of frame sliders on my 08 FZ6. The left one backed out and stripped the threads out of the mount even after putting locktite on it. What gives!? I need fix it some how! Any suggestions!? RB |

Colorado FZ6 owners?
Hey guys, I have my eye on an 2006 FZ6 or a Gen I FZ1. I was curious what guys out in Colorado thought of the FZ6? Do you find yourself thinking you would rather have an FZ1? I will be commuting, canyon riding, heading up to the mountains for day trips, and some two up riding. What are your thoughts?
Thanks guys. |

fzwilly, thanks for the input. I am also a long time off road rider but have also been able to spend the last couple of years on various street bikes ranging from a VFR800 all the way to a Ducati Multistrada, advantage to when I worked at a bike shop. I know I like to have a bit more power after riding these different bikes including a couple of gen II FZ1's. I just never had the opportunity to ride an FZ6 and was curious about opinions. From what you are saying it sounds like the FZ1 is probably going to be the better bet for me. Now if I can just find a GEN II for $3500 bucks.

Gotta question for the FZ6 guys here. My buddy found one on Craigslist today, and asked if it was a decent price. I'm not up on the values and told him I would post here and see what our members thought. Here's the link. Thanks guys/gals!!

I agree. If the ad is truthful, it looks like a good bike for the price.

Bear in mind, the FZ6R is not the same as an FZ6.

Four years ago I purchased a used showroom condition "06" Fz6 (red) and sold my Ninja 250. Two years later I show a 2006 Fz1 (red) with side hard bags on Craigslist in showroom condition and purchased that. Just couldn't keep riding both bikes and sold the Fz6. I love the extra power of the FZ1

Disregard the 0-60 marketing claims. They're based on the car only using first gear. Ask what they do at 0-80? Your FZ1 can do 80 in first gear :-)

Well, since I've been riding for 50 years now, I shirley am a geezer. Still, I sometimes enjoy having the excuse of heavy traffic when jumping out onto the 4 lane from a stop sign, staying in first gear until I've matched the traffic speed of around 70 mph. I usually get my fz1 up to around 10,000 rpm for that. I suppose the gen1 might have to do 10,500 to hit 70 in first gear :-)
