Why so many GenII bikes being sold?

Ok so is it just me or is there really a lot of Gen II bikes being sold lately? Or is this just an end of season thing I never noticed?

Other possible reasons FZ9? Ninja 1000 ABS?

What gives?

Will never sell my '06. Not worth the pennies I would get for it and I like it too much. I knew when I bought my '06 and my '10 Husaberg FE 450 dirt bike that both are unloved orphans. I love them and that is all that matters

LOL ...

Frankly, it is probably due to the new N1K and FZ09 and Yamaha's reluctance to revamp the long-in-the-tooth 9 year old Gen2....

Not sure why 16t sproket, R1 shock, Ivans pre-flash full kit not allot of bikes besides full on 1000's can hang with it..I have managed to make what kind of bike it is become irrelevant. It is the rider now. Plus I can go 400+ miles a day or take the wife for a 150 mile day cruise and be fine whats not to love??? Pass me I dare you..lol

I'm on the fence about selling mine -- need a few thou to pay the last of the college tution bills for my younger daughter.

The main issue is, I barely ride it this year. Did 6,000 with her the first year, less than 500 so far this year. My 87 Gen I Connie got most of the heavy duty mileage- rode her 3,000 miles in June, alone. Guzzi got another 1K since her resto in July.

Issue 2 is, I don't ride the FZ1 anywhere near her limits - I rarely get up over 7k rpm. I'm an old guy who rides old bikes. (I did manage to get "warned" on Skyline Drive yesterday -- 50 in a 35. BFD.)

Issue 3 is the insurance - my vinatge bike cost 80 bucks a year - my FZ1 - a lot more.

I could fix up and sell one of the FZR400's and keep the FZ1 at least one more year.

It's a coin toss.

This. It's hard to use the capability of this bike legally. Hell, I barely scratch it on the track.

It's in the 9th year of production with nothing but color changes. The Gen1 only had 5 years of production. So considering 4 more years of production and newer, you are going to see more of them for sale.

Plus they are so much inferior to the Gen1

Mine's up for sale because I had to clear room in the garage for an old mid-1990's SS and still have room to move around while fixing the oil-leaking beast.

I've considered selling the bike a bit actually. Not entirely sure why, maybe I'm just bored. The problem for me was I went right from my 04 R6 to this bike which I consider to be one of the most well rounded bikes out there. It's comfortable, reliable, looks decent, it's fast, and it feels good. I've owned it for a year in August and I have bike ADD but all other bikes I look at have serious downsides that are hard to overlook compared to the FZ.

Part of me wants to sell and buy a nice Saab vert as that's where my passions truly are but I can't commit either way. Every day I get on the bike I am reminded WHY I ride, but every time I hear about my friends getting injured, or put it away for the winter I am reminded it's such a short season/life.

Still torn about it because i love riding so much but it doesn't have the allure it used to for some reason. When spring rolls around I change my mind each year but when fall rolls around I get ants in my pants about it.

Gen I's are too old to be worth selling and GenII riders are getting too old to be riding 1 liter rockets. I'm starting to look at Suzuki DR 650's myself.

Zach, for additional credibility, you may want to change your slogan below your Avatar to:
