gen 1 ecu flash can it be done

my friend as a gen1 and asked me if I knew if there was a restrictor on the bike in 1,2,3 gears and if so can it be removed , can the ecu be flashed like the gen2 can I know its carb not injection but some of the other stuff you can get flashed on gen 2 would be good if it could be done on gen1. I may just be being a bit silly but had to ask the all knowing forum

the gen1 doesn't have a ecu so not. most he can do is a timing advancer.

Correct, no ECU.

I have a new in package jet kit if he'd like to buy it. Cleaning out old parts. I also have a timing advancer (it's a gear you change on the right side of the crankcase, 10 minutes work)..

If you're in the US, Australia, or most of Europe there was no restriction. But I believe in France and some other areas, something was done to the carbs to limit the bike to 90HP. Always something to keep in mind.

If he wants to wake up 1st gears may I suggest a one tooth smaller front sprocket. Probably the cheapest , easiest speed modification.

If he isn't interested in the kit, I may be. What kit is it?

Used a Factory Pro kit in my built, 1997 1200 Bandit, many years ago. Bike ran great, when i got it dialed in.
