Just curious but does anyone know of a FZ600 specific site where one might be able to search classifieds in hopes of becoming an FZ owner?

Hello all!

I've been lurking for a little bit, now I want to introduce myself and say Hey! Nice site you have here. I own a 2007 FZ6, and a 2004 VRSCB. For my next bike I'm looking at a FZ1! I look forward to posting here and learning as much as i can about FZ1's....

Welcome Bill...

As I have said before...there is a wealth of knowledge on this site that IMHO cannot be touched by any other motorcycle forum.

Enjoy the search function and feel free to ask any questions...Also Look at the tabs on the top of the page..i.e. Pat's Page....very detailed information about modding the Gen 1 FZ1...

Hello all you FZ1ers. I am somewhat new to the board and enjoy all of your interesting comments on the FZ1. I am in Kansas City, Missouri where I am included and very active in most motorcycle circles in the area. I bought my black 2007 FZ1 about one week before riding it to Sturgis for the yearly festivities out there this summer. Since then I have logged a little over 12,000 miles on it and believe me....I love it. I also own a 2005 CBR1000, a 2005 GSXR 1000 and a 2001 Honda RC51 and believe me, I have not ridden any of the others since I got my new FZ1.

Upgrades to date include: A complete swap to a 2007 R1 front end...everything moved over from the R1 to my FZ1 and then I added a set of Vesrah Super RJL XX pads to assist in the stopping arena. Russell SS Lines, R1 rear wheel, Rizoma grips, Rizoma bar ends and caps, Risoma frame sliders, Rizoma Rear Sets, Graves slip on exhaust, Dyno Jet PCIII USB, aftermarket NC windscreen (higher and wider), New Michelin Road 2CT tires, CRG Clicker Levers, 1" lowering link by Cycle One, Garmin Zumo navigation and Beltronics 955S radar detector, Corbin seats front and rear, Rice Rocket Rack modified to use with the FZ1 when on trips.

After reading through your wonderful web site it looks like things still to come include Rizoma taper bars and 60 mm risers, Ivans FCE unit and mapping, maybe a full exhaust system instead of just the slip on, Bizzaz elec shifter, BMC air filter and air box modification, new counter shaft sprocket for lower gearing ratio, Corbin Smuggler Trunk.

Hope to learn more and share stories with ya all in the future. I am an old has been AMA roadracer with two sons racing currently in AMA Pro Roadracing, Supersport and Superstock....root for AMA #'s 174 and 471, the Hall brothers for TWC Roadracing out of Kansas City. I still enjoy a trackday now and then with more attention devoted to rides down through Arkansas regions where we can enjoy some brisk riding through twisties with elevation.

Later Jim (Yamtz)

What benefit do you get with the R1 suspension please?
Would you not get more benefit from say Ohlins internals and possibly more appropriate springing rather than more of the same, less than optimal OEM parts?

Welcome and hello.
Likely got R1 fork for less than mods cost, gain looks, better fork internals, and radial brakes.
Does R1 have cartridge fork. believe so.

Actually, the R1 complete front end came with:
1) More adjustment
2) Upgrade to radial master cylinder
3) Upgrade to radial mounted calipers
4) Six piston calipers versus 4 piston calipers
5) Stock front end to stock front end gave me less dive on the brakes with about 1 inch less travel after all was set up.
6) I prefer the black fork assembly over gold
7) I prefer the red striped wheels of the R1
8) Yes they are a cartridge type fork and when we finish up with our 2007 AMA Superstock bike I will be putting the 25mm Ohlin cartridge in my FZ1....also want to employ the Ohlin rear shock if I can figure out how to get in mounted.
9) The R1 front end is 22 mm shorter than the FZ1 and this complimented the issue of changing to SS lines and other cables seemed to route better when I went to 60 mm bar risers and riser type bars

All in all, it was a better looking front end in the beginning that caught my attention. After the fact I realized that there were more benefits to the swap....along with some things to sort out....nothing major just small issues.

I have taken some pics of how it all turned out thus far and will make them available soon.

And the New FZ1...well...maybe if I win the lottery sometime. So I began looking at FZ6s. I was going to try and nab a blue '04 on EBay, a beaut out of New Hampshire with 5k miles that went for a seemingly criminal $3,850. SOMEbody has gotta be a happy new owner. But a day before the auction ended I saw a silver one locally. 2,081 miles and in showroom condition. What a beautiful bike, it feels punchier than I had thought, and in the higher ranges, it feels like it wants to take flight. I got an awesome deal on it too, I'm so excited. I was sold the minute I looked at it. Comfort, power, cruising range, looks, forget it, I couldn't be happier with a bike, especially given the good deal I got on the works.

Anyway, I'll do a little "cyberstalking" on the new FZ6 owner out of NH, and try to scare 'em this way. Thanks a lot for having such an awesome board, glad to be a part of the team.
Lottery? My fz 1 only ran me $11500. that's about what u would pay for a Buell, CBR1000, or any comparable premium sport bike, hell, Harlys run for about 11000 on up.

Hi guys;

I'm a long-time FZ1 owner but haven't visited here before.
I am going to look at a used 2004 FZ6 and wanted an opinion from you guys.

It's a one-owner bike, has a little over 2K miles, & looks very nice. He's only asking $3300. The total package seems good but I wanted to see if I might be missing something.

Any issues that I should be looking for? I understand that there were a couple of fuel injection recalls on the bike.

Thanks.

New to the site and greetings all. What brings me here is to ask if anyone who may have a FZ1 also may have a FZ6. I'm interested to know if the FZ1 radiator side panels will fit on the FZ6.

Also is there a compatibility chart between the two bikes?

Greetings! I just put a $500 deposit on a used '08 Maroon (sorry, don't know the official color names yet) FZ1.

I have never rode a motorcycle in my life. I sat on this bike, fired it up, and fell in love.

I am loading it onto a trailer July 7th, and taking the New Mexico Rider Safety course on July 11th. I promise, I will not be ridden until I have taken that course.

From what I understand, I got myself a WHOLE lotta bike, which is GREAT!

I look forward to many miles, and recieving tons of advice!

Lol! I just realized I posted this in the FZ6 thread. Ooops!
