I used to keep a small stylus attached to the X-mount, that I could use to unlock if needed. Lost it at some point, and never bothered to replace it. Siri does virtually everything I need while moving, and if I need to look something up that requires unlocking, I am generally stationary anyway..

My 6 is still working just fine, and I have no need to upgrade at this point. Ms. K has a 5, and I got her an 8 to give her as a holiday present. I can't justify the price of the X for any of our needs.

I was thissssss close to getting the X this weekend. But then I installed iOS 11.2 to fix the bug in 11.1 that was causing never ending Spring Board reboots.

Guess what? Battery issue is gone!

So no X for me for now.

I just read this, took a look and see that I can also get this update. I really hope it works. My 5s is just fine - don't need anything more. But lately the battery is over heating, and the life is way, way down.

Yah that's what I was having. Sometimes it got hot which I could only stop by hard reset. But that eventually stopped.

But battery life kept going nuts. I would look at it one minute and it was fine, and a few minutes later it would drop 20%. Wtf.

That issue is now totally gone.

I'll just add I've been using the X for a couple months now, and it has been working flawlessly.

I ended up getting one as well. I'm still so so on the face id, but the screen is really great and the speakers are much louder. Getting a larger screen with the same size device is perfect.
Also, my gut feeling is the battery life is the best of any iphone I've had so far.

I've noticed the battery on my X as well. I plug in when in the car to use CarPlay, which helps. But I've never come close to running out of battery during the day.

My 6S got hit with the "blank lock screen" issue after upgrading to iOS11. Once I switched to the X, that problem disappeared. Unfortunately, it's showing back up now for some reason. Driving me nuts.

Uh-oh.. do you *have* to plug in for carplay? The reason I have wireless charging adapters on my iPhones is because I hate having a cable hanging out of my phone in the car. I know the X can be charged wirelessly, but if you have to plug in for carplay, that negates its usefulness...

Thought they'd have figured out how to do WiFi or BlueTooth with today's car decks.

You'd think someone would come up with a wireless gizmo that you'd plug into your car that would make the deck think it was your phone, and then connect that gizmo via WIFI to your phone.

I have a new Alpine iLX-107 wireless AirPlay headunit in one of my cars and it works happily with my iPhone 7. There aren't many head units that connect wirelessly. Wireless AirPlay does seem to chomp through the battery though. Not a problem for short drives but I was on the road for about 4 hours and what started as an almost full battery was down to about 40% when I got home. That was just using Apple Maps, Music and Podcasts.

For long drives, I'll just plug the phone in to a power socket.

Yeah, there are a few head units that can run CarPlay over wifi, but my Pioneer can't.

I can do Bluetooth, but the extra functionality in CarPlay is worth the extra bit of effort to plug in.
