Thumbs up Ring Customer Support

I just bought a Ring 2 Video Doorbell and it does just what it says it does, which is pretty damn cool. I like being able to see who's approached my porch anytime. They save the video and I can download it. However, the setup instructions need to be perfected because they are not clear and leave some things out. So I reluctantly called customer support and I was on hold for less than 2 minutes, which is astounding these days.

I was connected to Scott, who is the most competent and friendly support person I've ever talked to. I had a few issues to solve and he led me through them one by one and then gave me the credit, which was amusing.

Based on my first couple of days of ownership I'd certainly buy this product again and I hope that it scares the porch pirates away when they see it. If not, I've got 'em on video.

I'm confused about one thing about Ring. Does it have the doorbell built in? Does it connect to your doorbell? What's the tone like? I just bought a house and the doorbell doesn't work. Should I be lazy and just order one of these instead of trying to diagnose my doorbell?

We’ve got one and likewise have had good experience with their customer service, our first one died outside of warranty and they still replaced it.

Orkun, there are several wiring options but the main answer to your question is yes it acts as both your doorbell and a camera. There is a ringer inside and it can ring on your phone as well to let you know someone has set it off while you’re away from home.

I’ve installed several of these for customers. They also have a solar powered option, which allows you to mount a camera anywhere outside your home.

Better picture quality than I was expecting too, and the night time pictures is not bad at all.

If you hardwire it it will ring your existing indoor bell. But not if you use the wireless option.

We love ours as well!! I have used it to speak to people at the door a number of times and have also received great alerts on video in my “neighborhood”. I had to call tech support one time and Alicia was outstanding.

I hardwired ours to the doorbell and it rings the bell in the house and alerts my phone at the same time. I will be adding the camera and light on the driveway in a month or two with solar panel of course.

How long does the battery for the non-solar powered option last? My door has a balcony above it so there's no light at the door bell

What item are you asking about? Doorbell or camera?

There is no solar powered doorbell. Only a solar powered camera.

If hardwired to the doorbell it maintains 100% charge. If you do not hardwire it it depends on usage.

-How often the motion sensor is tripped
-The number of live views you do
-The number of night vision sensor trips

Kinda like tires YMMV
