Very sad indeed.

One of the reports I saw said that there's video of the crash from a traffic camera that was shown to the media. It appears he didn't stop at the intersection.

Just found it again

Damn. Although I expected it, this news is still a real kick in the gut. Nicky was a hero to me - a good guy who got to the top.

I will always remember that accent, along with his achievements and riding style there was only ONE Nicky.
RIP fast man.

My memories of him other than his accomplishments on the Track was Him climbing up into the announcers tower outside turn 4 at sears pt while
I was up there with two friends of mine. One of whom was announcing the race.
I looked over and this kid is tbere. He's got a crew cut and it's dyed in orange with black leopard spots. Lol. It was Nicky. He was still a teenager.

The other time was at the blue Fin bar in Monterey after a race at laguna
Nicky was there and got busted with a fake ID. LOL. security was all over him and he eventually got escorted out. He had several babes with him so I'm sure he was fine. But He looked so embarrassed. I'm sure he got all sorts of shit rom other racers who were also there.

He was certainly one of the good ones.

Nice pix. We were there too. First time GP was back at Laguna since 94.

Nicky,Edwards, and Rossi as I recall. The first time we heard the four strokes.

Great win. It was almost as good as 88 when Eddie came from behind To win the first ever GP at laguna.
