I just found this wonderful thread but by the title of it, who would ever know what it was about? Please change the title so we can give more support to our men and women overseas.
Bless all of them during the lonely holiday time. It's difficult for all of us. |

Merry Christmas and Gods blessings to all those in the military and there families. Being in Colorado Springs we have a better idea than most of the sacrifices made for our country. We have Fort Carson, Peterson AFB, Shreiver AFB, NORAD and the Airforce Academy all within 15 miles of where i live and hardly a day goes by that there is not a picture in the paper of one or more soldiers that have lost their lives fighting over seas. I believe Fort Carson has lost more soldiers than any other base since 911 and this has been a bad year. The soldiers can stay in contact with their cell phones and laptops but it's not the same as being home and when they come back it's hard for them to adjust back to what we would call normal so they need all the support we can give them.

Wow, thanks for this thread! It is nice to hear the support! I have been in the Army over 19 years and I appreciate this so much! I felt a lot of love when I got back from Iraq the last time and I just missed going again in January.
thank you again for your support and SoCal, I just might have to ride down there for that discount! :-) |

I definetly dodged a bullet, I was two weeks away from going back to Iraq when my BC kept me back. I was mad at first (mainly due to the fact that I felt I was letting my Soldier's down by not going) and then I was happy as I did not have to leave my wife and kids again. This would have been my fifth combat tour and 11th deployment.

Haven't seen any posts for a while, but "thank you" can never come too late or too frequent. I'm a disabled vet but appreciate all you guys that are still/have been out there doing the work and putting your tails on the line; past and present.
Has anyone ever given any thought to a "Veteran's FZ1 Rally?" Maybe meet somewhere as a group, maybe even see if we can raise some money for a local vet in need....something to try and get together, share stories, then give something back? I'm in NC, but would be willing to do whatever necessary to help coordinate? Thoughts?

I'd be up for that... I'm not sure how many of us veterans are on the forum... But it could be fun...

I'll be back from Afghanistan in a few weeks and have the whole month of September off. I'm game for a ride.

This year would be out for me, recovering from shoulder surgery, but next year I'd definately be in. Figuring a central rally point from all four corners, and then coordinating with the VFW, American Legion and the DAV would be a good starting point.
