Introduction, just picked up a pristine 2003...

Hi all.

I wanted to introduce myself. My name is Ganze. I live in Texas and I have ridden a long time.

Through pure dumb luck, I found a pristine 2003 with less than 5k miles for under $2500. I bought it instantly.

My previous ride was an SV1000S (another great bike). By comparison the FZ is so comfortably fast that it just makes me smile. I had done some good work to my SV to make it more comfortable but it was still cramped by comparison. The SV had a massive low and mid range punch but the FZ top end rush is MUCH stronger.

It had a GYTR pipe but I have already put a Carbon DanMoto on it and like the raspiness. I have also added a couple of frame sliders.

I think it was already jetted but am checking with the previous owner to be sure.

It's blue with a black frame and silver engine. I plan on doing the usual low hanging fruit kind of mods: suspension, intake work, jetting, etc... I would like to find a beefier mid range while expanding the top end a little. If I could stretch to 140rwhp, my ego would expand to match my waist size. But it's plenty fast as is and would be happy to just keep riding it.

Glad to be here. I tried to post a pic yesterday but I got insta-banned by the software that must have picked up the photobucket link. Will research how to post pics to avoid that....

Will be using the search function quite a bit in the days to come.

Welcome!

fwiw
Dean has a R6R shock kit which is a great suspension upgrade. (used low mile shock, drilled mounting bushing, correct or your choice links)
Add Racetech fork springs and your suspension is very good.

There are some low cost H4 LEDs being memtioned.

I had an Ivan's jet kit in a 2001, liked it a lot.

Read thru the homepage projects and Pat's FZ1 site when you can.

Welcome, the gen 1 hates to be parked for too long so any jetting and carb history is useful. Suspension is well spent money, saddle foam and new grips might make Texas riding less boring.
The security team is going over your submitted photo, maybe with a few more posts and a well placed bribe.
Enjoy

Yep, that was me. Posting pictures of your nice new blue FZ is easy here, but the size has to be smaller as compared to ADV.

I really appreciate the heads up. As soon as I saw it, I called and put down a deposit. If you are ever around the DFW let me get you a beer or coffee to say thanks.
