After a nice visit, MIL is in the friendly skies back to her home. Youngest daughter arrived for a visit a few days ago. Nice to have a house full of family for awhile.

We had the boat last night, and were joined by the above + two other couples. It was weird here yesterday. The lake and lakeshore were socked in by fog all day, but go 2 blocks west of the lake and it was totally clear. It was so foggy during the day yesterday that they closed the beaches in Chicago 'cause the lifeguards couldn't see the swimmers in the fog.

We enjoyed dinner in the harbor, and at about 7:45 pm the fog started to lift. We could see the buildings along Lake Shore Dr. and downtown again, so we pulled out of the harbor and into the lake to enjoy the sunset. The fog was still playing pussyfoot, so we just motored around slowly close to shore until right at sunset, then motored back to our slip in the harbor. The fog had returned at this point. I think it's nice to be able to see where we're going, y'know?

That's weird, hard to get a tan on the white parts with the fog too.
I'm like you, I like to see what I'm running into. Never forget the CA sea fog I experienced....talk about eeeerie driving.

fog is never good for mobility. I wonder if the intense heat caused it to fester near the water.

Too bad I never look as cool in the photos as I feel riding...

Just joking Jerry. Glad you have it.
We even get into the 40s every now and then.

The 90s in the afternoon make up for it though.

We are battling the most oppressive heat wave of my lifetime !
The last time it was this bad this long was 1940. Supposed to hit 100 today, and it doesn't get much below 80 at night .... and the humidity is through the roof.
I'm staying inside, except to retrieve the mail.

Make sure you hydrate as well. That also goes out to all my midwest and east coast brothers and sisters.

While the rest of the country is melting us poor shmucks up here in the N.W. are still wearing insulated rain gear. We've all but given up on even having a summer this year. So as much as I would like to sympathize with you all, truth is I would take a heat wave over this crap any day. Hell, I have yet to see the heater turned off in my house for more than 24 hours this year.
