Exclamation How do I post pictures?

When you create a new thread, or reply to a post, you can "attach" pictures to your message directly. You do not need to "upload" them to the site in advance. Of course, you can link to pictures posted on another site (photobucket, for example) but the problem with that is if you remove them from that site, they no longer appear here. At some point in the future, your valuable contribution will now be missing important content!

So, to attach pictures to your post, simply click the "manage attachments" button down in the Additional Options section, below the Post New Thread section. That will bring up an attachment manager window where you can select the pictures from your local computer, just like attaching them to an email. Note that the pictures must be smaller than the files most cameras produce, so you'll need to resize them first. Select the picture(s) you want, hit 'upload', and then close the Manage Attachments window. Your pictures will now be included with your post or new thread!

Note if you do not see the Manage Attachments button, you are probably typing in the Quick Reply field - hit the "Go Advanced" button if you've already started typing a response, or start out by using the "Post Reply" button instead.

If you want to link to pictures that are already posted somewhere (here or elsewhere), right-click on the picture and select 'copy image location':

(some browsers do not give you the image location option. Either "view image" or "properties" will allow you to view the actual URL for the image itself, then copy that)

Then click on the Insert Image icon:

Paste into that box (that is the image location you copied earlier), then click OK:

Your picture will now appear inline with the text, just like these that I posted above.

Hope this helps!

Hi all and thanks for all the tips. As some of you know I had a hard time loading photos. I found that resizing the photos was my issue. (which had been pointed out to me.) I found in photo shop , windows paint and similar programs you may resize and save your image. Use pixal size 800 or smaller and it works just fine with the attachments . Thanks to all that tried to help.

Spectacular info - I have wondered this for years, and never took the time to figure it out. Thanks for the info, and I will use it to put some pictures up now.

Note, if you have to stand your monitor on it's side to view a pic, it'll look that way when posted here.. ;)

You can delete the photo by clickign the "Edit" button on your post. Then click on the paperclip icon to "Manage Attachments". There you will see the option to "Remove" the photo in question.

Thanks. Got it. Why does it go sideways. Too big of an image? This is all new to me. Don't own a computer.

I'm guessing you turned the phone sideways to take the photo to get the landscape effect.

You have to find the original and use it, or, just rename it and upload it.

Right-click on the pic and select 'copy image location'.
Then when posting, insert that link between img tags or click the Insert Image button (looks like a postcard of some mountains) and paste the link there..

What efly said. I just right-clicked your avatar and did the 'copy image location".

Started this reply and entered the image tags and pasted the link in between
