I did not. My black 2012 rims still have the tires on them.

Found a brand spanking new Morgan Carbtune Pro 4 on OfferUp last night for $50 so I swooped it up this morning, warmed the bike up, made a tank prop out of a wooden dowel, and got to tinkering.

1&2 were 3.5 cmHg difference, and 3&4 were about 2cmHg off. 15 ish minutes later and I've got those carbs perfectly synced to 20.5. not that the numbers matter but that's what they ended up at.

I did find if I prop the tank up too high then fuel leaks out the vent hoses so I shortened the prop to about 10" or so and no more fuel spillage. Also had read on Pat's site that he used a 12" phillips screwdriver. An 8" is plenty long enough.

Took her for a quick ride to see how she felt and whereas it's not night and day, it feels a little more responsive off idle. Or that's just my brain hoping it made a difference lol.

Wish everything carb related was as simple as synchronizing.

Next up, new clutch in a few weeks.

Cheers!

Operation Retro Resto is underway:

I've had this set of R1 forks sitting on the shelf for like 5 years now. I got a good deal on them, and knew I'd have the right project for them at some point. This is it.

Fork swap done. I love it that so many parts are interchangeable between the Gen 2 FZ1 and R1

Stuff I still need:

- front and rear indicators
- LED headlights
- right side rearset. The one on this bike is broken. Or perhaps a good welder . . .
- grips
- brake fluid and bleed up front
- right side frame slider
- tag and insurance

Stuff I have for sale:

- Gen 2 FZ1 forks - gold. Good condition, 5K miles on them. Full disclosure, this bike was crashed once (hence the rebuild) but the forks work fine, have no signs of damage or warping, and cycle smoothly through their full range of motion.
- Gen 2 front brakes - calipers and rotors
- R1 top & bottom triple clamps and steering stem, 07-08
- Another R1 top triple clamp, 07-08
- 2 sets of 07-08 R1 clip-ons, 1 of them with controls
- Maybe a PC3 (see ECU flash below). It's on the bike now, may not keep it.

I'll list this stuff in the classifieds too.

I'm looking forward to upgrading this bike some more. Future plans include:

Traxxion cartridges
Penske rear shock
ECU flash
Speedscreen
engine guards
rotor R&R

Looking good Patrick! I highly recommend the Proton blinkers. Those R1 forks look great, wish I could find a clean set (for a reasonable price). Those from a 2007 or 08? I need to figure out which LED headlights to go with as well, the last night run on the Cherohala was a little uncomfortable, lol.

Yes the forks are 07-08. I'll check out the Protons.

Cut/re-welded the spring hanger on the center stand to accommodate a full yoshimura r77 pipe. The spring rubs on the pipe when down if you don’t move the hanger over on the center stand about a full width. No rubbing now.

Got a new set of Q3+, they are not even broken in, weather has been crappy and while this weekend looks good, I have planned major work in the backyard that I really do not want to postpone
