Back from TDY... Using 3 fingers is not as difficult as I was anticipating. Actually, after playing with 2 it's a natural follow-on. Using my thump to fret a note is a little awkward but works wells when playing in the box.

Both techniques have helped me play longer with less fatigue. My hands used to cramp up sometimes as the night wore on, so staying relaxed was/is important. I hope it helps you get more enjoyment from your playing. Also, playing 10th's sounds really cool on a bass, whether you bar them or use your thumb ;)
