Some A-hole hit my bike in a parking lot this morning. Not looking on his cell phone hit the left side and knocked it about 3 feet onto the right. Snapped the right bar end mirror and peg off the right side, luckily had frame sliders on so it only scratched up the cover on the muffler on that side.
Problem is his tire hit the left side and caved in the peg and shifter linkage, some paint also by the tail light. Bend it back some so I could ride it home but really can't get it in first or second. Any chance it did any internal damage? Looks like it just bent the bracket and rod. Hoping nothing worse. Any thoughts? Biff

Insurance
Yeah, the guy was upfront and contacted his insurance agent at the scene. They will cover everthing, just a hassle being without the bike and having to fix everything.

Got pics? May have bent the shift shaft or internal damage to the shift forks.

Have the frame checked over good as well. On a static knock over a frame slider will concentrate all the energy at one point on the frame as opposed to say a low side where the slider just starts scraping first.

I feel for you!
I had a hit and run a few months ago - I would say that you should have everything checked out and thank goodness he had insurance (and he stopped). The good news is that when mine was hit in the parking lot - just surface damage. Had it checked out by the dealership and everything was good. Best of luck fixing it up.

Yup take it to a good dealer and have them look it over, its on his dime now. They will give you a cost estimate of what needs to be fixed/replaced. If nothing major hopefully insurance will write you the check and you can do as you see fit, like fix it cheaper and use the money for mods! Good luck, no one likes dealing with insurance companies...
