This is a very good point. Most police departments don't really have the resources to do it. But you have to wonder if NHTSA or DOT will put some unpaid interns on it and make referrals if they can link up the details.

Hereafter, I am going to forego admitting to my misdeeds in writing on public forums.

Didn't look like the rider was going very fast. I don't know why s/he didn't just continue the lean, it's not like it was very far over. I shouldn't judge because I'm not great but still. Also, that slow mo is very instructive. You can see the rider freak, tense up, and brake. That front tire is locked the second it touches dirt.

I too wonder why she decided to stand the bike up. I did the same thing last weekend (without the crash part) I was on GMR going around a blind left when a group of idiots wannabe drifters in Corvettes decided my lane was better that theirs. Drove me off into the dirt where I stopped and flipped each one off that went around the blind corner in the oncoming lane.I'd say there were about 14 of them and at least 10 were lane crossing. Really pissed me off. Mostly old dudes like me except a few had some young hotties with them. I flipped them off too just because.

We go by a kid on an R6. He was stopped on the side of the road, nose out. T-shirt and shorts and helmet. No gloves. No boots, sneakers. He watched us go by then pulled out and tried to chase us down. We pulled into the gas station at Turner Bend and a few minutes later he comes in. Gets off his bike and says, "I had a hard time catching you guys. . . . I just got this bike in February . . ."

We all did the requisite subtle head shakes and made our way into the store. Either briars or Torchsport (or both) talked to the kid and suggested MSF, more gear, and trackdays at Hallett. Emphasis on the gear. I think someone also mentioned it probably wasn't a good idea to try to chase down a bunch of old guys on sport bikes like that. The kid seemed fairly sharp and took the advice well. Seemed agreeable to the idea of improving his skills.

Not all squids are really squids. Some of them just don't know any better. I guess if you live long enough you graduate from being a squid to being a mature, seasoned rider that crashes faster.
I can relate to this.

Loaded down Caponord, and I mean full Pelicans, tent, sleepings bag(s), enough crap to live off the bike (did it for two years). SQUIDS wanting to **** up on Cherahala Skyway. I would hold it about 70. On the straights, they would close in, curves........drop back fast.

Got to the TN line and let em pass. At a pull off a few miles later, I whip it in.

"DUDE! Yer Insane!" is what the one kid said to me.

"Never mess with an old(er) guy"

"How in the **** do you rail on a bike loaded like that?"

"Experience, young buck"

Now I live in DFW, I get stuntas, wanting to play......it never works out for them.

Did have one kid on a Tiger 800 wanting to play though some back country TX twisties. He was better than most, but still holding me and the FZ1 up a bit, but tolerable.

"I was expecting to lose you in the curves!"

" I am not from TX, and I never got out of 4 gear, you can lay that Tiger over a bit more in the curves. It'll hold just fine"

It is fun owning the SQUIDS in the turns

Commuting home on south I-5. Lane splitting, I pull in to my left lane to let an overtaking bike pass me by. He pulls in with me for a bit, but then pulls up and plants himself on the right corner of the car ahead of us and then just sits there, invisible.

Car ahead of us puts on right signal, waits for a spot, starts looking around to clear himself. Squid pulls closer. Car twists his head looking all around, then starts changing lanes. Squid is still behind and clear of car, but instead decides to gun it and rip around him anyway, on his right, with the guy already halfway into the next lane, signal blinking away, with me on the horn!!!!!

I hate that crap. I want cars to think bikers do care about their own skins. I felt so embarrassed that I shared an exasperated gesture and head-shaking exchange with the surprised driver as I went by in the left lane.

Bike was an FZ6, by the way.

Speaking of squids. Not all squids ride sportbikes - here is a short clip of an asshat on a HD that was encountered on the 405 north, during the afternoon commute...

Weaving in and out of traffic like that is retarded. A death wish the rider must have. You will do that until the first person opens their door and then you won't do it again.

Uh, lane-splitting is legal here & if you ride here you wouldn't say dumb stuff like that. Riding any other way here will get you hurt in a hurry & in a big way. I have yet to see someone open a door on the freeway in SoCal, maybe retards in NH do that... I guess haters are gonna hate...

Since bikers often travel in groups and lane split only in fairly heavy traffic, doubtful that anybody would be stupid enough to open a door in a biker's path, especially if it is legal.

Unless you want his buddies jumping up and down all over your hood.

I do it in NY in heavy traffic to save the engine from overheating. Nobody has ever given me a hard time. Not even New Yorkers.

I cant imagine riding where it IS legal. The cops around here would give a lane splitter a Rodney King beating.

I try not to be so narrow minded, but I just cant see where lane splitting should be legal. Of course, I have never ridden where it is legal either.

First of all Zach, Id say you dont know what squid means. Its not just someone who rides slower than you. In fact, its not someone riding slow at all.

Secondly, based on the above video and the dumb pass on the left you pulled, Id say it was you who are the dangerous one.

Oh, and I commute every single day on the 91 and 105. Every day I split lanes. And every day I see guys like you riding on "faith".

You probably scared the shit out of that SUV because your poor ego couldnt bare to allow you to sit behind the HD guy because you are so fast.
