RavenRider Carb Mod Question

I am doing RavenRiders carb mod and have a shim question. I have a 2003. The plastic spacers on the #2 and #3 carbs were thicker than the ones on #1 and #4. I sanded them down to the same size as #1 and #4 which is 2.4 mm. The washers I got from Radio Shack are .5 mm thick. Three washers therefore are 1.5 mm. This is not the 1.59 mm target thickness as described in the RR post. Will the 1.5 mm work along with the spacer for a total of 3.9 mm?

Do you plan on drilling the ports?

The capitan would not recommend it.

As for me, I don't drill them. Many do, with good success. I prefer to pass on that one. Not in my carb recommendations.

I understand completely, I asked because I sent Lotabikes a bit last month

I decided to do RR carb mod first, just as he recommends. i.e. not drilling the ports. Once I've run it that way for a while, I am still going to do the Ivan jet kit. I haven't decided which one yet as I may want to go with pods. Don't worry, the bit won't go to waste. If I don't use it, I'll put it on here and send it to someone. BTW, the RR mods have worked very nicely. So far I am happy with it.

Go pods. Gives it a nice growl. I just had a buddy that rides a fuel injected gixxer comment on how responsive my carbs seemed tonight.

Good to hear you have had success, the bit is yours no matter what.

What is the change from say 1500 to 4000 rpm? that is where I noticed a big difference.

Much smoother and quicker acceleration in that range. Eliminated the flat spot I had around 4500 rpm. Also, proper throttle control is a lot easier now. Not so snatchy.
