Speed and Strength Riding Shoes

Anyone have any of these, particularly the "Moment of Truth" model? Are the as comfortable as some of the reviews state?

Why not just get regualr riding boots? My Sidi Vertigo Corsa boots are comfy enough to wear as regul;ar shows when I get to my destination. For a full race boot, they are also very comfortable. Plus, they offer way more protection than those riding shoes.

2 of the biggest injuries that a boot will help prevent are getting your shins trashed by your pegs during a crash as you come of the pegs and come down on them and having you ankle bent to one side as your bike and body lean on it. A good boot will help. That shoe just looks pretty.

Exactly why I wear my full SIDI boots even when I am teaching.

Most "riding" shoes are a joke and don't provide needed protection. Get a full boot if you can. The best shorty boot IMO is the Sidi Apex or Streetburner. But get a full boot if you can.

Thanks for the replies. I'm really looking for a 3/4 length boot and appreciate that the "shoes" are not the way to go. The Sidi's look nice but I really have something against companies that dictate pricing. My search continues.

Dictate pricing? Your choice but I would drop whatever issue you have with Sidi as you are ignoring one of the best boots on the market.

Another option for you is the Alpinestars S-MX 2 and TCX Jupiter 2. Dainese Dyno Pro shorties would be a solid pick.

My vote for Best Bang for the Buck is the Tourmaster Response 2. Decent overall boot..waterproof. "Acceptable" protection but you are not getting what you would get with Sidi/ Alpinestars/TCX line.

I can see why this type of boot would be wanted. If you live on your bike like I do, I need to be comfortable all day walking around. Yes, it is a sacrifice in protection, but wearing full fledged motorcycle boots 10-12 hrs a day can be dreadful. I personally use the Apline Stars S-MX 2 boots...all day every day like sneakers because I am at college all day. Super comfortable, lots of protection, just no fibula protection. Granted they will not offer the protection of a full calf, torsion control boot.
I have four sets of boots.
One set for commuting, one for rain, one for dirt, and one for canyons/track...
By the way, These A* S-MX 2's are awesome!!!!!
I wear full Motoport Kevlar Air Mesh 2 suit everywhere I go in addition, so besides that one protection factor of torsion protection, I am OK with it. Plus I ride VERY reserved while commuting...Super Safe!
My 2 cents

I have Sidi street and dirt boots. They are VERY comfortable and I will buy another pair of Sidi street boots soon.

FWIW I got a pair of these Moment of Truth riding shoes about a month ago. Obviously they're not for track days, but as an alternative to sneakers-especially in 95 degree weather-and for about $100, I've been very happy with them, both on and off the bike. Just my $.02.

While not the best protection (as stated ad naseum) it beats flip flops, sneakers or dress shoes. i have a similar pair (different manufacturer) that are a little taller and stiffer in the ankle that I wear for short jaunts where I'll be off the bike for a while.

I was at Iron Pony today and checked out all the shorty boots from all the vendors. (I agree one should wear a full boot but this is a shorty boot thread)

I will tell you I was surprised by the Thor 50-50 boot For the price ($119) it is a really solid boot. The toe and heel protection is solid and the overall boot resists twisting. The sole is real solid.

I have no idea how they feel or breathe or anything else but I always judge boots but trying to press in the toe and heel area then grabbing the boot at opposite ends and trying to twist it. The Thor 50-50 did as well as any on this test (and better than some doable the price)
