21rst International Ride to Work Day

June 18th, 2012

Ride your motorcycle or scooter on this day to demonstrate:
•The number of motorcyclists to the general public and to politicians.
•That motorcyclists are from all occupations and all walks of life.
•That motorcyclists can reduce traffic and parking congestion in large cities.
•That motorcycles are for transportation as well as recreation.
•That motorcycling is a social good.

Some interesting facts

Funny thing. I ride to work EVERY day, between march and december.
But I have Ride To Work Day off...

Oh well. Getting ready to head to Montana/Wyoming tomorrow.

A "social good"? I have no idea what that even means.

As for the rest, I seriously doubt any non-riders notice or care. That's been my observation anyway. Since the time I started riding, I have not noticed any appreciable change in attitude among people who do not ride.

There are however more people who ride. And most of them ride mostly because they just want to look cool, and couldn't care less about proper gear or actually learning how to ride better. Which probably explains why non-riders haven't changed their attitudes.

Just my Your results may vary. Carry on.

I rode today anyway, because we're having AWESOME June weather all this week, after about a week and a half of rain. Mid '80's and low humidity with refreshing sea breezes for the foreseeable future.

Be careful out there. Cagers are out to kill us every day, although not intentionally. And it's getting worse all the time.

How about a "Put Yer Goddamn Cell Phone Down While You're Driving" Day?

Woohoo I rode today. Almost drove due to a 40% chance of afternoon rain but I hate driving. Usually as long as I can get to work dry, I'll ride.

This.^^
On average, in the 8-9 months that I am able to ride, I usually only have to drive in about 10 times. If I know it's going to be a big rain, I fir sure take the Goldwing. If my rain gear gets soaked coming home, it's irrelevant to me.

I so love saving money on gas on my 70 mile round trip commute!

Friday Night I left work at 5:15 and rode 400 miles to Maryland (5-1/2 hours) average 72 mph with 46 mpg (On the 2002 BMW K1200RS) taught all day at Howard Community College then rode 450 miles home Saturday Night.

Today Back on the FZ1 for the Morning Commutte (A whole 4 miles)

I too rode today and then a bunch (prolly 50-60 bikes) of bikes were escorted by local PD's, the bases security forces and followed by a fire truck making all sorts of noise. we rode thru the entire base to raise awareness for motorcycles and then had a good ol' bbq for lunch.
good thing to be in the Air Force... took time out of my work schedule to ride thru base and free lunch.

This thread was a little tongue and cheek. Especially since I, (and many of us ride daily), own pnly a motorcycle and practically live on the thing.

I rode in today, ride most days as I only have 1 car (sold my truck, saving up so I can pay cash for the 2nd one). It was hot and windy, didn't see very many bikes at work at all, there were more last week.
