LOL, It got so bad at one time that I would start playing with people. Let them inch by me and then right when they think they've got me beat... I'd roll on the gas and leave 'em in the dust.
As former busa owner I'll say thats about right !

KN-204.jpg 9.45 for black or 11.19 for chrome.. I like the brand, and I like the fact the nut on the end of the filter is same size as the drain plug. I use them. ps. Maintainance is expensive .. I never want to add up all the reciepts- I have stacks. But the bike runs just fine, so is life..

I buy Mobil 1 15/50 @ Walmart for like $25 for a 5 quart jug. So an oil change is less than $30. I use an OEM filter.

Filters differ on construction quality, filter media type, amount of filter media surface area etc....

K&N does get beat out by Purolator Pure One and the Mobil1 filter.

This being said, your bike will run a million miles using Rotella and K&N. I however buy the Pure One and use Rotella T6.

Does "wonders" for my machine...
Oil either does what the machine engineers designed it to do or it fails to do what was designed to do. It does not "do wonders".
If you would like an explanation of oils and filters from a mechanical engineer in engine design , PM me.
I won't post up in this forum - which is filled with half truths and sometimes outright witch doctor class opinions - along with a sprinkling of fighting, emotionalism, and one-upsmanship.
Been there... done that.... useless.

If you're talking specifically about oil and oil filters - yeah, there is a lot of that - but there is a lot of good information as well.

The reality is that I've never heard of anyone loosing an engine because of picking the wrong oil or a filter failing.

The person most qualified to talk about what engine oil to use is probably Denise, who has 200,000 miles.

I bought my first Purolator Pure One filter for my Gen II when to my shock I found out that Walmart no longer carries the ST7317.

I'm sure it does a great job filtering, but what I have noticed is that my cold starts all sound like that first restart after you do an oil/filter job with the huge amount of valvetrain noise, just not as long (not enough oil pressure/air pocket).

You notice this with yours? I don't seem to recall this with the ST7317, almost seams like the drainback valve in the filter isn't working right.

After 1 million, probably need an overhaul anyway.. "witch doctor class opinions - along with a sprinkling of fighting, emotionalism, and one-upsmanship."

Seems like quite a few people think that mc's are some sort of delicate flower.
In over 500k miles on street bikes, many over the 60k mark when sold, I have never had a issue other than wear & tear type stuff.

Switching to another filter would be a cheap way to check?
