Upgrade from Gen 1 options?
G'day,
I'm thinking of upgrading my excellent Gen1 (because I can) Which option would you choose? Or should I stay with the Gen 1 (I do love it!)? Options: 2008 R1, 26,717Kms, Rossi replica, $8,999 AUD, Been dropped and repaired, new fairing, straight, a bit rough around the edges. http://www.tradingpost.com.au/Automo...=D888601788232 2007 FZ1N, 14,846Kms, full Yoshi system, power commander, excellent condition, $9,999 AUD http://www.tradingpost.com.au/Automo...=D888601827592 2010 SUZUKI GSX1250FA, 2,948Kms (new bike!), Yoshi slipon, $10,490 AUD http://www.tradingpost.com.au/Automo...D1403901666818 2003 FZS1000 Skunk (yes the skunk was '03 in Australia), 44,486Kms, Ivan's So jets, MIVV slipon, R6R rear shock, hugger, JMV lowers, SS lines and more. Unmarked tank, other paint is very good but not perfect, alloy bits are losing their luster. Never dropped, regularly serviced (by me) $3,000 AUD as a trade in, $6,500 as private sale (when I can sell it - things are slow). http://s172.photobucket.com/albums/w...=PC110011a.jpg What do you reckon guys? What would you do? Something else? BTW nearly all of my riding is tight twisties in the Adelaide hills, some commuting (12 Kms each way when too lazy for the bicycle), no touring (Jaguar for that). difficult to answer or advise but if all you are doing is twisties, then I would go for the R1 as its the best carver in the bunch.
I am not a fan of the Suzuki, I just don't care for them. I see no point going from a Gen 1 to another Gen 1 unless there is something wrong with your current Gen 1 I'm not a fan of the Gen 2 FZ. I think they did it wrong. It should be an R1 with a taller handlebar and windshield and thats about it. |

Um, going to a Gen II is generally considered a downgrade.

I don't consider any of those options an upgrade.
I guess that's why there are so many high milage FZ1s. Nobody can find a better bike to trade them in on. |

Pick her up tomorrow ![]() ![]() The FZ is too good to trade for what they were offering so I'll keep her - the best of both worlds! |

Sweet!!
I'll be watching this thread carefully. I currently have an 01 FZ1 and will shortly be getting a full blown sport bike to accompany it. I have been looking at the new cbr very closely. Can't wait to hear what you think about it!
