Conti Motion Tires?
I ordered a set of the Conti Motion tires from cyclegear for about $170 for the set. I’m looking for tires that will get me good miles at a cheap price. Has anyone used these tires? I’m planning on using them for mainly commuting with an occasional ride with my dad and his cruiser/slow sport touring buddies who don’t go fast. I didn’t want to spring for the Michelin PR2s just yet and I figured at $170 for a pair I cant really go wrong. I also plan on trying out some Shinko Ravens too. I will be riding about 70 miles each way to school a few days a week.
Here is a link to the aforementioned tires: http://www.cyclegear.com/spgm.cfm?L1...=TUC_29-0140_G |

The closest I can come is a set of Conti RoadAttacks I had on my '01. According to Continental also sport touring tires. I put 10,100 miles on the RA's before replacing them. They might have had a few more miles left, but I felt the time was right to replace them. I ran 36/42 psi in them and checked them regularly after reading that they should be run at higher pressures. I had no problems with them as far as handling, ride, or traction, wet or dry. Overall I think Continentals are good tires for the money. HTH

I just bought thee tires.
$195 installed. I just got back from another late night romp through the empty streets of Las Vegas. They are good tires. The compound is a single compound, but it seems "gummy" enough to the touch. They warmed up quick, was 55 degrees here tonight.. I had Metzler Sportecs just before this set and they took corners really well, So I am comparing the two only in cornering. All I can say is after putting 500 rigorous miles on them is that they are a quality tire for a great price. They seem to warm up fast. I've been leaning on em every chance I get without and slipage so far. They are supposed to last 4000 - 8000 miles, and that is what I was looking for. I am not a knee dragger, but get surprisingly close to the floor on turns. These tires are tackling the job just fine They arent great in the rain, found that out the other day through a good storm. But I dont know of any tires that track well on a wet road - on a 410lb missle with a around 140hp to the back wheel. I know everybody is crazy about the Michelin Pct2's. Wish I had the dough to try those. Great for only $195 installed. The Metzlers were good, but I am not a racer, nor do I do any track days yet. The Contis go 135mph in a straight line just the same as the M Sportec 3's. So.... I hope that was a good enough general review. Continental are a quality tire maker, been around for many years. The Conti Motions are a great, single compound, longer lasting (supposedly), less expensive tire and works well with my 2003 Silver Bullet FZS1000 -MR |

I'v heard good about them, I'v never seen them live, and the stories of 'good' were from forums, having said that, you can get Michelin Pilot Power IIct's all over ebay, a pair for $214....... thats two=pair, so why not get some Michelin's. The guy selling the 214 thing I'v just bought from, the tire packaging was excelent, the tire came quickly 4 days and had NO BLEMS or disturbances on it.PS. the Shinko's are upright tires, not confidence enspiring twistie tires. Their best suited for comuting on long straight highways. They have a propensity to 'feel' greasy, my friend tryed them on his RC 51, almost went down alot of times, but he's such a pro rider, he handeled every lowside event like a flat tracker, but said he wanted to put my used Bt 14's on his bike, they were half good, so I let him have them, then he was good to go again.

I'm running ContiForce front and back.
Not as good as the Michelins I previously had but much more puncture resistant. This was important for me as I work at shipyards and construction sites and unfortunatley I lost way too many Michelins (3 at construction sites and 1 on the road, all back tyres due to punctures) over a period of two years. I ride to work every day. The first puncture was repaired but the 2nd meant I got a new tyre (the bike shop said it was the law here but I never verified that) The ContiForce are not as good as the Michelins in the wet but better than the original Bridgstones in this regard. The longest lasting tyres in my experience were the original Bridgestones although I wouldn't purchase them again as they were scary in the wet. Not that it rains alot in Sydney (that probably makes it worse when it does rain). Cheers gcv |

My 20005 has 59,639 miles. 1 Conti attack on the back the rest have been Dunlop D616 since the original Bridgestone. The original Bridgestone survived for about 8,000 miles. (Good Tire) The Conti about 6,000. (Ok) The Dunlop D616 avarage 10,000 Miles. The front one 21,000 befor I had to order another. (GREAT TIRES!!!!)

I just ordered a set of these for $169 delivered from Competition Accessories. Anyone have any mileage reports? A friend has them on his fjr and likes them but says they wear fast. he rides 2-up a lot and has a heavier bike. It was what they had in stock when he went to get tires. They are what I can afford right now even though I don't need a front, just to replace my BT021 rear after 5,100 miles. I'm wondering what the wear is like for our bikes with these tires.
Thanks.

Have over a thousand miles on the Motions. I love em. They stick really well...and are even good enough for an Intermediate class track day.
Havn't ridden them in rain yet.....but i heard on other forums that they don't work that well in the rain. Lack of silica i think. These tires are well worth the money on a 95 hp FZ6. Don't know if they work well on 135 hp FZ1's. |

these must be really good tires, everyone is out of the 180x55 size for the rear. I wound paying about $60 more for a set on pilot roads.
