Anyone have a promotional code for Competition Accessories? That might save a few more bucks, and I need that!

FYI, not to rain on your parade here brother but I just bought a set of Pilot Powers for $165 to my door from Jake Wilson company. Promo code JW009 took $20 off an already great price.

They have other flavors as well of course.

He is right on target. (Thought you'd like that one LOL.)

Jake Wilson, BT003s in 120/70-17 and 190/55-17, with the above jw009 code...............$224.98 shipped.

Almost everyhwere else, they wanted around $260 for the rear alone.

Based on popular advice I purchased radials as opposed to bias belted. It came to 251 for the pair of Pilot Road 2CT radials. Less 20 = 231 shipped to the door.

Has anyone had both radial and non radial on the FZ1 and think non radials are as good as radial tires of the same model?

When I bought my 1st gen 03 it had radials and did not want to risk less performance by going non radial so I spent the extra cash.

I'm not sure where you can even get a bias belted that would properly fit.
The bike was designed to use radial tires.

I haven't run a biased belted in years, and not sure I would even want to with the quality of the radials that are available at the prices available right now.

May be for a commuter or strictly freeway runner, but toss in some twisties..................Hmmmm, no thanks.

I guess I was wrong using the term "bias". What is the proper term for non-radial tires? The reason I queried about radial vs non radial was because I think that the really low prices stated above are for the "non-radial" versions at Jake Wilson. I hope that everyone actually got the radial tires that they should get at that low price but I fear that they purchased non-radial tires instead. I paid 235 for a set of Pilot Road 2ct radial's from Jakewilson. The pair of Pilot Road 2ct non radial version was significantly cheaper by about 60 bucks.

Hey, Thanks for commenting again old77zrider I was tempted to comment on your first post after putting my mind at ease but I didn't want to come across like I was flaming you. You made me question the good deal I got. So much so that I couldn't get to my garage quick enough to study the new tires sidewalls closer. We have all heard horror stories of the "good deal" gone wrong especially when something seems too good to be true.

I PM'd Glenn (Ravenrider) and he dispelled some of my concern, actually all of it if I would just soak up everything he said but I have a hereditary condition which results in a thick skull. He was right about jetting too by the way but I digress... As he had mentioned; the "R" in the size of the tire designates radial. In my case it follows the "Z" which stands for the 168 mph speed rating.

Anyway, I also called Michelin that same day you posted and they do not make make a bias ply version of the Pilot Power and it is a radial tire. I cannot speak for other tires in their lineup such as the PR2ct you mentioned. The only comment I would have there is that it would seem a really bad practice to offer two products of significantly different construction under the same product name.

Some have also read suspicions about age of inventory so I'd mention that one of my tires was made in May 09 and the other was September 09. Made in Spain. I consider that and the cleanliness of product 1st rate.

Zero complaints here.

Sorry for the false alarm and thanks for the feedback. I did not know the R in ZR meant radial. In retrospect I was pretty pleased with the Pilot Road Radials I had and should have saved a few bucks and bought them instead. I had ideas of trying to get on a track this year and I comute 90 miles a day so I figured the 2CT's might be the best of both worlds. Oh well..... UPS should be delivering them today. Check the Jake Wilson site regarding the way the 2ct's are offered. I almost clicked the button to purchase the regular Pilot Power version. That definitely would not have been a bad mistake now that I know they were Radials. Thanks again. As always, the members of this site provide helpful info on a regular basis.
