Stock front Fork upgrade/ overhaul

Front Fork Upgrade?

Hey guys,

I crashed my Gen1 on the track and bent the front forks.
I am not going to buy aftermarket forks (ohlins, etc.) But I would like advice as to what to tell the shop that I want to improve the performance of my stock shocks (I got old FZ1 front end from a dismantler).

Any advice? cut the spring? add thicker fork oil? I know there was a $2.50 upgrade thread about 2 years ago on this site, but I could not find it on the search feature.

In addition to telling me where I could find this thread, can anyone tell me your recommendation as to how to improve the stock forks without buying aftermarket forks. Thank you very much. I love this site.

-Stevie

That a $14.95 upgrade thread by RavenRider and its in the Tech tips.

You can also send them off to Lee at Traxxion for new springs and/or valving. There are a BUNCH of threads here on this subject.

Thanks for the thread. Any input on what stiffer spring and valve to get?

That will depend on variables - your weight, rear shock, type of riding, ....

The biggest suspension deficit (depending on your weight) on the Gen 1 is the rear spring. Unless you are below 160, the shock will be undersprung for you....

Lee at Traxxion can recommend the proper springs for you and will give you valve options. They can install an AK20 or a Traxxion valve depending on your needs....

His boardname is SportRyder....
