New FZ1 Owner

Traded in my 07 FZ6 (after 2 years/9k miles) for an 07 FZ1

Rides great and am still finding differences btw the 1 & 6 like no helmet lock, more midrange, higher passenger footpegs, better suspension etc.

Just wanted to say hi to everyone & hope to learn a lot about my new awesome bike from you guys.

You'll love it! It appears to be too late to warn you about the
addiction...you're already over the $1k threshold.

Welcome to the forum and congratulations on your new purchase! The black looks real good as does the exhaust. Your gonna have a blast going from the 6 to the 1000. Nice pictures. Enjoy it and ride safe.

LOL, bike already had the mods when I bought it (& partly the reason ($) WHY I
got it)

Just need to get a decent FE and possibly SS/Kevlar brake lines (not sure if I need them as brakes seem pretty good)

Would appreciate recommendations on the above 2 items...

Hey welcome! Your bike looks great, and I was just thinking that all you really needed was a FE and maybe some flush mount turn signals. Graves has a pretty nice fender eliminator if you're thinking of keeping the stock rear turn signals.

Welcome .......There is a helmet attachment.
Not everyone notices at first. Fold down the
passinger footpeg, place the helmet on the peg
and the D-ring fits over the triangle shaped tie down loop.
A small padlock locks it in.

By the way....have you heard of Ivan yet ???

I'm new here too and came about it by the same route. Only in my case I went in slightly the opposite direction. I moved from a 2005 FZ6 to a 2004 FZ1. Wanted more power and more comfort and found a blue FZ1 with barely 3000 miles. Have already run into the "Old Gas - Plugged Carbs" problem. Also dumped a lot of bucks on Yamaha, aftermarket and custom made upgrades. This site has been an excellent source of information.

Why not just slide the D ring over one of the hooks on the bottom of the passenger seat and then relock the seat? Works great for me.

Use the rear seat as the helmet lock

Thanks for the helmet lock suggestions, I normally have a cargo net strapped across the pillion seat, so will have to figure something out...

I also carry a bicycle cable lock under my seat. Not only does it work for helmets, but I've stuffed my wife's jacket sleeve into mine and ran the cable through them.
