2000 R-1 Shift Arm - PICS
Ordered the 2000 R-1 Shifter Arm (#5JJ-18112-00) from a local dealer ($38) And just put it on. The new arm is identical to ours except its about .25 inch shorter. It was a breeze to put on, It just slides into place.
Stock FZ1 on the left, R-1 on the right ![]() Shifter range is reduced from about 2.75 inches to 1.9 inches (done with a sharpie taped to the shift lever) ![]() The only problem is that the shift rod rubs on the frame. I'm not sure how I will handle this yet, for now I'll just keep it generously lubed. ![]() I haven't ridden it yet, but wll post a report as soon as I can.

Very scientifically done! Great pics too. Can you rotate the lever a spline or two to move the rod away from the frame?
Well done GD cheers, Dave

I just ordered one from http://store.azmusa.com/r12001shiftarm.html
This sounds like a great mod, and the rod-rub problem will be dealt with one way or another.

Maybe it's just cold up there in Perth.....
![]() Shit, almost forgot, I'll see if the shifter is good on my boy's 03 R1 wreck. On the other requested parts; he's still in shock, I'm still trying to wrench. BB

Is the '03 the same as the '00? I ordered one but I couldn't remember the year you folks used. I ordered the '03...I think I will check and see if the part #'s are different.

Okay, I ordered a (#5PW -18112-00-00). The only difference in the '00 part # and the '03 is that instead of PW...the '00 has JJ. That shouldn't make any difference...should it????
FWIW...the diagrams on partsfish are exactly the same for '00 as '03. I think I'm fine without altering my order...but some confirmation from someone here that knows better sure would make me feel better.

Now THAT would be small
No, it is definitely for an '03 R1...I just hope there isn't any difference between '00 and '03.

I hope not!!!But i think so
When reading the article about the shifter they said pre 2001. If you look from 98-01 the numbers might be different but they all have JJ in the part number. 02 and up is when they supposively change the throw from 1 7/8 "to 3". I hope it works for you...... but its doubtful. Ken |

![]() I think you need to call them back and switch to a 2001 or earlier.

KYfazer,
Did the connecting rod rub on the frame? If so did you find a solution? |

I took a file to the area where the rod comes through the frame to give it a little more room. You can't even tell I did anything.
