Replacment Cartridges for Gen 1 forks

Ok so today I had a discussion with Lee about the A20 cartridges (I believe that is what they are called) and one of the selling points was that I could take these with me to my next bike when I decide to move up, and they would just put my old cartridges back in the FZ for when I sold it.

Seems cool and all, but I am not a racer so me having those cartridges would probably be about like putting lipstick on a pig. (well probably closer to reality than I want to admit)

My question to the intellectual capital of this wondrous forum is... Are there any bikes that I can just steal cartridges off of and then get them retrofitted to the FZ1? (R1s, R6s, GSXRs, Ducatis?) The goal would be to improve my forks on the cheap.

I ask because I see forks all the time that have the fork tubes bent (just slightly that I could take the cartridges out of)

Lastly this is just a question for my own entertainment and for future digestion. For the time being I'll probably just go with the fork service (since the old girl only has 20k on her.) But I imagine the forks have never had their fluid changed or anything. (I know I didn't do it.)

Bent forks could lead to bent cartridges as well.

Note: The bottom of the damper cartridge is hard fixed to the lower (aluminum) leg by the allen head in the bottom of the forks.
The rebound rod that runs inside the cartridge is hard fixed to the fork cap.

As far as a replacement damper cartridge from another set of forks???????

You'd be surprised how nice and smooth race suspension feels on the street. You don't have to set the sag at 1" like a race bike and the superior damping just translates to a smoother more confidence inspiring ride. Even if you're not a racer.
