I quit smoking in January, turned 50 in April, and have been watching my gut get a bit bigger. I realize that quitting smoking has caused my metabolism to slow down a bit. I have been eating a diet high in whole grains, raw vegetables, nuts, and no soda for about a week. Just saw my folks yesterday and they claim to see a difference in one week. I have noticed that my clothes are fitting a bit better and that I have a bit more energy.
